Ok I took out my bohyme/pro-tac tonight. I had it in for 2+ weeks. The hair and the tape were doing very well and I could have gone another 2+ weeks, but I have new hair comming in this weekend and I want to try cutting the tapes in half on a new install.

I started out by gooping conditioner all over my hair. I used a tube of that conditioner that always comes in the box when you buy a color kit.

The first few rows came out great. I got down to the last 2 rows and they were in GOOD, like someone had used super glue on them. I ended up using dish soap and they slid right out.

I washed my hair, shampooing twice, and after towel drying, I ran my fingers through my hair and hit about 4 small spots where there was some tape residue. I just keep running my fingers through my hair and it seems to be doing ok. If its still there tomorrow Ill go get some acetone.

One scarry moment: I forgot about the shed hairs. I freaked out a little when I first ran the comb through my hair. Then I remembered the natural shed hairs where comming out.

After I got a weft out, I swished it around in the water to get out all the conditioner and soap. Believe it or not, the tape was still tacky! Ill probably use acetone to take the tapes off the wefts as they seem to be stuck pretty well.

All in all I consider this a very successful install and takedown. I am definetely a pro-tac convert. I will take Sherrie's advice on my next takedown and use pure acetone.

Getting the tape off the wefts is one of the hardest things for me to do.  It always seems to take some of the weft hair with it, and there is always a ton of sticky tape goo left over on the weft. 

I've never tried acetone, though.  Do you put it in a spray bottle?

I had my hair extensions with protac in for 10 days.  I only took them as the hair was not really upto much.

I washed my hair with Proclaim shampoo remover which actually made the wefts very loose.  I then completely covered my head in conditioner which I worked in under and around each tape, I did this for a couple of minutes and then mine just slid out, I washed my hair twice with some really nice shampoo and contioner which I had bought from Sally's and I had no residue or anything left in my hair.  When I got out of the shower I managed to get the tape of the wefts by pulling it off with a small towel.  My wefts have been washed and conditoned and their is a little bit of 'tackiness' which is still on the stitching at the top of the weft..

I did a take down a couple of days ago, and I tried using the conditioner method.  Well, I used Fructis (sp?) conditioner, let it set for about 30 mins and then tried to pull them out.  They did not budge!!!  So I rinsed and then used Amm's orange oil, and had a hel$ of a time getting my bottom row out, I think the combo of cond. and then rinsing in the bathtub with my head upside down, then adding oil got eveything all flipped around and tangled!!  Anyways, got that row out and all the rest slipped right out with Amms oil. 

So what did I learn???  That I could condition my whole head with the Fructis conditioner and not have any slippage, and don't rinse with my head upside down!! 

I ended up using some Olive Oil to get some of the tapes off of the wefts, I put some in a small bowl, and let the tops of the wefts soak as I was taking the others out, and the tapes just slipped right off, and I had very little residue on the top.  Hey, maybe next take downI will just use OO.

i use conditioner on my whole head and the tapes are still in

i have the ph with protac in for 3 weeks now

the only way i can take them out is with amms orange oil

i tried another oil and it didnt work but i will try sherries method and remove them with acetone

Its surprising how all of us have used this method and everyone has had differences in getting the protac out.  I found that mine just slipped out, I just used cheap conditioner from Asda's on range.  The easiest way to get the tapes off the wefts after they are out is to hold the weft and get a little hand towel and pull the tapes off the weft mine came off in one strip.  Easy.

I would definetly recommend the Proclaim shampoo remover as this loosened mine quite a lot first before putting the conditioner on them after.

GS: did u have to use EVOO or just any OO will do? I already have EVOO, but I'm wondering if i can buy a cheaper OO for tape removal

Koffee, I think my OO is just plain ole cheap stuff.  I took it out of the bottle and put it into a glass decanter to decorate one of my kitchen shelves with.  So, when I was having trouble, I just grabbed it and poured some into a bowl to remove the tape from the weft. 

I wonder, if I put some OO in one of those spray bottles that you can buy at Target, you know the ones that you put veg. oil in to use instead of Pam.  I wonder if that would work to get the oil to the head with out a huge mess.   Hey, I wonder if just using Pam would work???  That would acutally be pretty cheap and easy to use, I may just have to try that out.  I feel a bottom row slipping
