| This has only been out several weeks. The reviews on Makeup Alley are generally positive. But given my experience with drugstore hair color, I am concerned about this pulling red, even with the ash or neutral brown colors. Has anyone tried this hair color yet, especially those who are trying to avoid red? |

I think the KEY with this product, although I haven't tried it, is the fact that the company recommends not going any lighter than one shade of your natural color. Maybe even matching your own color. It's possible that 10 vol. peroxide is being used, which would help not pull red. Also sticking to a shade a few shades up or down will give better results. I think all hair color, single process anyway, tends to get a bit red or orange with fading. Once you bleach to yellow or pale yellow then it's the dreaded yellow or pale yellow brassy hair. You could call L'Oreal and ask about their product...see what they recommend. Good luck and I hope this helps! Rebekah |

i ended up with some not so pretty results but i think the biggest reason why is that i thought my hair was darker than it really is...the thing i was really happy about though is that it didnt seem to damage my hair at all...i was expecting it to fry it a bit more than it did. just make darn sure you know what color you are starting with! |

| Clueless, are you saying your results were too dark? That's the most common complaint I have read on other reviews at Makeup Alley. What color were you trying to get? I'm trying to avoid brassiness and red in dark brown hair. |

when i started, my hair color was actually lighter than i thought it was, i posted yesterday...see the red roots and mahogany/purple ends post...i think if my hair had been the color it said to start with it would have been very close to the color on the box...i just tried a color that wasnt close enough to my own color. the one really nice thing is it actually did not seem to damage my hair (dry out) like most dyes ive used before. so if anyone knows how to fix this! please i start a new job on monday...id really be happy if i could NOT look quite so "alternative".
since i posted this earlier this morning i manged to find a way to fix it. hooray! :) |

I'm no expert, but have you considered getting ColorFix from Sally's and removing the color? Then using a color formula designed to work with what you are left with? There's a "sticky" thread on this board that tells all about the basics of hair color, including how to correct or support the color you have on your head. Also, I've heard of people using protein fillers on porous hair, to control color grab and wrong hues. And on Makeup Alley a woman posted that the Natural Match was the wrong color on her highlights, so she removed all the color, bleached the highlights further, then applied Natural Match again. I think she also used a filler on the highlighted area. Basically she was trying to get all her hair in the correct color in order to receive the Natural Match in the color she wanted. What I did when I felt I was going too far with experimenting and not being happy with the results...I went to a professional colorst and had her correct back to my original color. Maybe you could find someone open on Sundays. Hope this helps. |

| Remember that everything fades. Ashes tend to look very dark when they are first done. When I did Moonhaze, a very ashy color, it looked like it was going to be dark brown. I feared it was too dark, but now that it's faded it a nice ashy/neutral dark/medium blonde color. Just don't judge a color until it's faded a few washings. |
