My hair is currently a light somewhat ashy blonde (kinda yellow in my opinion), but I would like to add dark blonde lowlights so it won't be so flat.  Is this something I can attempt to do myself, or should I go to a stylist?  If I can do it, what should I do?  Should I just part my hair 1-inch or so to the left and right of my natural part and add chunks of color where I want them?

I did lowlights using a highlighting cap and a demi color. You CAN do it yourself.....it just takes research, patience and doing test strands. I have a few threads of my experiences if you'd like to do a seach for posts by my username.
