I am wanting to get a darker piece put underneath my hair. Should I just go a dark blonde?  Or should I go a darker brown?

I want to do something different for a change?!?!

either one would look nice... i guess it just depends on how bold or subtle you want it to be.

I think you should start out just dark blonde. You could always go darker if necessary.

Are you going to be using a demi?

No idea Kelly?!?!  What do you think.  I think they must use a perm. color at my salon....

They never ask.  They just do it.  I have been going to the same salon for a few years

Hi Tinkerbelle,

I think you should go for a very light brown.  I would also ask your hairdresser to use a semi because I think that if you don't like it then a semi is easier to remove and it will also fade more.  Then if you like it they can put a more permanent color there next time so it dosn't fade as much.  I have a dark auburnish brown underneath my hair and I would like it lighter brown so the contrast isn't as shocking - but my stylist wouldn't do it.  I have had some damage with the blond part of my hair and she said it would be even more damaging to go from dark brown to lighter brown because they would have to use a color remover and the hair would not feel as silky after.

One good thing with going darker underneath is that area of your hair will be healthier than the rest of your hair after a while because you won't be lightening it when you do the top layer of your hair blond.

Good luck!!

Noelle
