OK, I just joined,  I currently get tracks sewn in (about 3) I buy the hair and have the lady do it and pay 40- 50 per track, plus hair 40-70, 25 to remove the old stuff.

Someone suggested shrinkies but I can see shrinkies has been closed topic, I am not in the biz nor am I interested in professional reasons, I just want to know if these work for us peons and is it worth it and cheaper than the sewn in kind lol

if ppl wanna email me with ur personal experiences please do.

Thank you and hope I didnt upset anyone

~Bonnie

PS I live in the Valley in So Cal, and does anyone know of a place I can get tracks put in for about the amount or less listed above? I use to go to a lady in OC is good, but it takes alomost 2 hours with traffic.  I did once go to a lady at northridge mall at regis, she was fast and about the same price, but the tracks started coming out after a week (never had that before) so I really dont wanna go again.

Thanks again!

Bon

Have you thought about Pro-tac?
A lot of the girls on this forum love it.
That way you can do it yourself.

Hey! Welcome here!

I'm sorry, misunderstanding here. I said the pro-tacs. From shrinkies.net.
Sorry, I probably said something stupid!

No no, shrinkies are small tubes you heat up that shrink around your hair
and the extension hair. That's the strand by strand method I talked about.

The pro-tacs are strips of glue-y tape that you put in your hair, you can
use the wefts for this.

I guess I thought you had your tracks sewn in.
Do you use glue to attach your wefts? If so, maybe you can do it yourself?
I live in Van Nuys, where do you live?

I do have them sewn in now, and was told about the shrinkies as an alternative.  If they arent an option for me, I would also like to know where to go to get them sewn in around here if the shrinkies arent what I am looking for. Sorry if I confused u. :)

I am in Van Nuys too.

oh ok, so I wouldnt use tracks of hair then, just wefts?  How much would that cost me do buy all the wefts (equal to about 3 tracks worth) the pro tacs and I also need that heating tool right??

Thanks!

Tracks and wefts I consider the same thing, so, not too sure there. It
depends on what type of hair you want. It can range greatly. You can, for
example, buy cheaper hair at the beauty store for around 5-30 dollars a
pack, or pay more, around 100 for nicer hair.

With the protacs, you just buy that, and possibly some remover if you
want, you don't need a heating tool.

oh ok TY. I think her name was Tameka, she was soo nice and did it so fast (compared to the lady in OC) but after a week they started coming out, i was so bummed.  I couldnt get em fixed bc i was traveling and out schedules didnt match up, so it was a disater. I ended up just going to the lady in OC a mo later.

If you do pro-tac, you basically tape the weft aka track to the tape
and then tape that to your hair. People say it lasts 3 - 6 weeks.

His and Her's on Wilshire also does tracks. I wouldn't buy your hair there.
I would check Divavocal's person first but if you're worried about money I would consider the pro-tac or clip-ins which is what I do.

BSS = Beauty Supply Store
BSS hair is not high quality long lasting hair.. I call it throw away hair.. I'm growing out a really short hair cut (I cut my below the shoulder length hair into a Halle Berry short haircut) So I personally don't buy BSS hair anymore because I am planning on wearing my extensions long term.. So I wanted hair that I didn't have to throw away after each takedown.

I always thought I would get low quality hair becuase I didn't know it would
become SO BAD!!! I thought it would stay how it was but I was wrong wrong wrong. I will never buy crap hair again unles it's for a very short term.
