Holy Moly sassygirl....8/9 ounces? WOW! Thats alot of hair!!  Would love to see pictures!

smshands for 18 inch hair I'd say around 4-6 ounces is average.

My hair is so thick, if I dont have lots of hair in my hair it looks very odd.  I did the double and triple wefted and it looks really good.  I would put some pictures up but my digital camera is on the blink.  On any install I have I always use 8oz so its completely full. Its funny Amanda should mention in the above thread that it depends on how big your head is as myself and my three kids all have big heads and very very thick hair.

Funny! My husband and older son have melon heads too!  You guys are a trip!

Thanks.  I always worry about using too much or not enough.

Melon heads...thats too funny!

I always like to have 8 ounces on hand for an install. Different brands/textures can vary too. Sometimes it just depends on how much volume the particular brand/texture has. For example I think the Bohyme silky straight is very flat without alot of volume (very straight) so I always feel I need to use more hair with this super straight/flat texture to get the volume I like. Compared to a wavy texture or something, 8 ounces might be way more than enough.

When she goes to the hairdressers they hate doing her hair as it takes them nearly one and half hours to dry her hair and thats without wearing hair extensions.  When she leaves it to air dry it takes a full day to dry on its own.  With hair extensions thats a full story book I can tell you.

One particular time we went on holiday abroad and she had her 15th birthday while we was away and she asked could she have her hair washed and dryed at the hairdressers.  She booked an appointment and it took him two hours just to dry her hair. He kept shouting out in the hairdressers 'big hair' big hair', Jen my daughter said that she had never been so embarassed as he had the customers looking at how thick her hair was as in all the time he had been hairdressing he had never come across anyones hair as thick.

Sassy - Ive found that a client with thick hair or chunky layers needs alot of extra hair like you say (especially using bss hair or single drawn hair)  Do you use the same amount with double drawn or bohyme hair? I feel with these hairs it blends more easier without having to use as much.

xx

With the tapes, for 18", 4oz of Indian and about 6oz of Asian. I get more bang for the buck with Indian.

Prior to the install I have in now, I put in 26" of Indian remy that weighed about 10oz. The install with all the tapes took about 3 hours and I hopped in the shower right after installing. All of it slipped right out once it got full of water. The weight of it about pulled my feet up from under me.

So, I guess you are saying protac is ok as long as you only use about 6 oz. max. Right?

I think it's personal preference how thick one wants to wear their hair. For 18", 6oz is what I like.

As far as what the "max" is, I'm not sure. I just know I shouldn't have gotten into the shower immediately after the install. The whole thing fell out because of it. I'm pretty sure once all that hair was full of water, it weighed over a full pound. LOL!

That's hilarious, I'm surprised you didn't break your neck either lol or got dragged to the floor with the weight of your hair, the plug hole sucked the hair down and strangled you x

smshands...my first install with protac was 8 ounces...last 6 weeks. This round of protac is 7 ounces.

Amm that must have been a real bummer to spend 3 hours installing to have them slip right out! I know I was bumming when I installed the protac/Pro-10 hair and had to take it out the next day!
