Hi all. I'd like to know if anyone has successfully highlighted their hair from one time black dye (semipermanent) after 6 months of no processing? I was highlighted in past but I made a mistake by going back dark. I don't mean from black to completely blonde, but from black to dark blonde color? I was told it may take several appointments to gradually make my hair multi dimensional blonde and have frequent trims.

First off, it's good that you want to do this through a salon. Are you familiar with the hairstylist that you want to use? I think the highlights can be done, and it is wise to spread them out over several appointments. Sounds like you have a cautious hairdresser, and that is good.

Yes, I have an hairdresser I like. He can achieve what I seek however not exactly the way I want. He's the one who highlighted my hair in the past and did a good job although it was a little on brassy side. It's hard to find a really good hair colorist at good price, though. Thanks for your reply, hannebash. I will get highlights again this summer once I am past 6 months and have a good trim.
