I am scheduled to get my hair braided..not the micros, but the pencil size braids with extensions all over my head tomorrow.  I'm wondering if it would be better to continue doing the braid-outs every day or get those braids and wear them for about a month. With the braid-outs I've been con washing every other day and doing deep conditions or protein conditions once a week and it has been growing. I know with the braids I won't be about to really do that. Does any one know which might be heathier or contribute to more hair growth?

I think braid outs would definitely benefit you I guess you just have to keep it protected.  And I've never like braids because there is risk of your hair being suffocated, and it may pull too much and break edges and what not, however, I've noticed braids are definitely protective!  And I think if you do get braids leave them in for longer than a month.

I think both can beneficial. With braid extensions you just have to make sure that there not done too tightly and care for them as you would do your real hair. I've experienced good results w/ braid extensions and braidouts.

Either would work, I wear box braids about 90% of the time and you should still wash/con at least 1x week with braids. The trick to making braids work for you is just like when your hair is loose. MOISTURE, MOISTURE, MOISTURE.

People think braids are easier but they aren't because you still have to wash, condition, spray a moisturizer on them and massage your scalp. I use a spray mix of Infusium 23 for color treated/permed and Better Braids Spray twice a day on my hair.

Remember it's still your real hair up under there and it will break off and fall out without taking care of it no matter what style you wear. Another thing with braids try not to go over 3-4" longer than what your hair actually is, because that will put too much tension on your hair.

I braided hair for years and if your hair was above the sholders I would braid it to your shoulders and no longer. Some folks would go and get it done by someone else and the next time I would see them - Whoop there it is - No edges - hairline starting back at your ears. They'd come crying and I would have to help grow it back in

Actually I achieve more growth with braids because I can moisturize and massage more frequently and not worry about mussing up my yabba dabba doo.

Good Luck
