I use a natural shampoo called ABBA, nourishing shampoo, I have the conditioner too but prefer my Pantene hydrating conditioner. I think any non-sulfate shampoo is good for extension hair. Alot of people recommend the Pureology line. Definitely check out the shower filter. I got mine at Home Depot for under $20, filter needs changed every 3 months at $3 per filter. Or you can invest the money and buy a more expensive one. They say there is AS much or MORE chlorine in tap water as there is in a swimming pool....just imagine what that does to extension hair....let alone our natural hair or our skin! And chlorine also vaporizes in the shower, so we BREATH it into our lungs...cant be good! Your welcome SaraAnn. I noticed after I moved from a house with a water softener to one without, a huge difference in the extension hair. It seemed like every batch of hair I used got dried out really fast. I never really knew why until someone mentioned it. Wow, I think I might get a filter too. Is it easy to do yourself?? I notice a
huge difference when I am home (we have a reversed osmosis system that is just heavenly!!! But it's also REALLY REALLY PRICEY) but I have an apartment, and I don't know if this is just something you can screw on, or what. Anymore info sherrie? Brand? |

My shower filter is an Aquasana that just screws onto the shower pipe in
about a minute. I think I paid about $60 for it online at the Amazon marketplace. You replace the cartridge every six months or so. I've never washed extension hair with unfiltered water so I don't know if there is a difference. I know that my extension hair is getting softer and prettier the longer I'm wearing it. The other unexpected benefit from my shower filter is that the irritated redness and dryness I've had on my face for years completely cleared up! I had NO idea that chlorine was causing it. I went to a dermatologist recently and even she didn't know about shower filters and the benefits to skin hair that one can experience with them. ------------- Here's to the end of my BAD HAIR LIFE! |

I got the only brand that Home Depot carried, cant remember the name of it. But it was under $20. I thought Id try it and see if it made a difference before I invested in a more expensive one. But it seems to be doing the job intended! Its simple, just like Kristie's. You just unscrew the shower head, screw the filter on then screw the shower head into the filter.
