Hello all,

I am a natural blonde that had gradually been getting darker hair.  It was driving me crazy to keep finding dark hairs in my BLONDE hair.  So, stupidly, I decided to dye my hair a mix of light brown and dark blonde.  It is way too dark and I want my natural color back.  I did it with a level 2 dye, so it is supposed to come out.  I was also told that if i wash it with dish soap that it would get at least some of it out.  Well, I did that and NOTHING came out of it.  I have been told to strip it, but that will kill my hair.  I'm afraid that my hair was too porous and it will never come out.  What do I do?  I am desperate here.  Please respond with any advice or information on what I can do to get my natural color back quickly.  Thank you so much!

That was my color before I dyed it.

You can use colorfix colour remover to get the excess dye out...but it will leave your hair with an orangey tinge..so you may need to tone your hair...?

I'd wait for some advice on how to get your blonde black from one of the blonde experts on here

You might try a Malibu Crystal Gel treatment which is a safe way to fade out some color.  You can get it online. I think Sally's has an Ion treatment pack that is the same thing.  It won't dry out your hair or be harsh at all.

I have bad well water so sometimes I do this to pull out the minerals and it also pulled out my semi-permanment color as well: crush up 4 1000mg vitamin C tablets and mix the powder into clarifying shampoo (it will be gritty) then massage well into your hair, using your fingers and palms to really work it into the hair.  I put my hair in a cap and sit with it for about 30minutes under heat (you can put a hot towel over it or blowdry on top of a moist towel to lock in some heat).

This might help.  I've also heard of people using regular Tide (NO BLEACH) detergent to wash their hair, but that seems pretty harsh as well.

Hope this helps.  I don't know how much color it will pull out, but they're gentler suggestions.

You can try a lightener/bleach product and just leave it on for a couple of minutes.....DO NOT leave it on the recommended time. An over the counter product might work just fine. I did that after one of my 'I want to go darker' phases and got blonde and almost black striped hair. The left side pic is what I got from doing that. Your old color looks golden......if that's what you want, stay away from ashes. Just do a test strand first!
