So I took the plunge and bought a Solia from http://www.folica.com - www.folica.com . (It was quick too! I had it in about 2 days!) I did a conditioning wash with Suave Humectant and Mane N Tail Conditioner. Then I mixed Nexxus Emergencee with an Australian Conditioner and sat under a heat cap for 45 minutes. After rinsing, I added Organics Shea Butter Moisturizing Lotion and a Mist of Vo5 Miracle Heat protectant. It glided through with ease and my hair didn't burn not once. It didn't feel like I had heat on my hair at all! Afterwards, I added alittle moisturizer to my ends. It came out great! I'll have to post pics next time I do it!!

I've wanted a Solia for awhile now, but was skeptical of getting it seeing as though it is 88 bucks I believe.  I already spend way too much on hair products, and another flat iron(85 bucks).  I think my Tigi Hardcore Iron has been giving me splits. But I'm not relatively sure.  Well I think I'm gonna have to ask my rents to get me a great b-day gift!..

Solias are very good irons.  I had one before I bought my Sedu, and I really liked it.   My roommate has it now, and she's given it a good home.

I used Cantu Shea Butter Moisturizer. It seems to hold moisture for me. I even have less shedding afterwards than I did before! I like the fact that it was very quick and easy to use and my hair didn't feel fried at all. It doesn't get the roots very well, but I'm not worried about that too much. I also used it on my sister'a hair. Her hair is EXTREMELY thick, but it took only 15 minutes to straighten her hair and it looks good!

If you use the thinner ones, they are able to get a bit closer to the scalp

ITA with Vanity.  Vanity, I think I'm gonna have to break down with you and go ahead and get me a good iron.  I have a half inch Tigi.  I love it to death, because of the pinstraight hair, but the little thing cannot get my ends for NOTHIN.  I think I'm gonna order after my expensive trip to Orlando in April(depending if I have money left over!) and I don't give a rats behind about the roots either.  I ALWAYS get the roots straight, and can never tell what to touch-up with a relaxer!

Okay, Okay, so I cheated!  I didn't by the Solia!  I was in Sally's BSS today (my other favorite place on earth besides, Church; Target; Starbucks). and I was checking out the irons.  I see this Jilbere NANOTECH 1".  The manager comes by (whom I've gotten to know on all my visit) and says "I use that one on my self and customers" (she's a hairdresser too.)  And I say, "how do you like it?"  "I LOVE IT.  best flat iron I've ever used", she says  Then the other sales girl chimes in; "I only use Jilbere, I've had mine for a couple years."

It is ceramic and Tourmaline just like the Solia, plus with a Sally's Card, it was only $69, regular $99.  I got 90 days to try it.  So I'll let you know.

Jilbere de Paris Ceramic Tools Nano Tech Digital Flat Iron 1"
  By: ConairPro

Size: 1"

Nano technology is a science of micro precision for uncompromising performance. Nano Technology compresses micro sized particles for increased ceramic distribution. Nano ceramic emits negative ions in their most beneficial form, in the largest quantity possible, quickly sealing the cuticle layer and eliminating frizz for smooth, silky hair. Maximum far infrared heat is released, penetrating the hair from within for gentle styling without damaging hair. Nano Ceramic is reduced to the smallest size minimizing plate friction for reduced static electricity and increased shine.

  • Micro particlees of ceramic are compressed together to form a harder, smoother plate surface for enhanced far infrared and ionic performance
  • Ultra powerful ceramic heater offers unparralleled performance
  • Fastest heat-up, highest temperatures with instant heat and recovery
  • Digital LED temperature display provides 6 preseets at vital temperatures for different hair types
  • Ensures silky, shiny and healthy hair
  • Retains extremely high temperatures for even heat distribution
