My hair is very damaged from processing, bleaching, etc. I have brown
dyed hair and would like to put a red over it. However, I dont know
what brand is good for hair that is on the dry side. I would buy a
professional color, but I always like the colors at the drugstore
better. Should I stay away from drugstore color if my hair is damaged?? Thanks! |

Garnier Nutrisse and Clairol Herbal Essences are both pretty gentle. PLEASE DO A STRAND TEST before doing your entire head. -------------

| I just tried Garnier Fruitis hair color today for the first time. I have used home hair coloring for years, also gotten the expensive salon jobs, (no better), and this is absolutely the most gentle, effective hair color I have ever used. I will never use any other color from now on. It gave my ultra fine hair body and texture plus the color results were as it looked on the box. I was afraid to try it because I had actually stopped coloring my hair as I had a burning of the scalp reaction from Loreal hair coloring. I think I may try some of the other Garnier products now. Thought I might share! |

If you hair is damaged you should stay away from any chemical services such as haircolor, perm, relaxers, etc. They pull moisture from the hair strands and dry out the hair. The problem usually occurs after the service when clients don't properly care for their hair with professional products shampoos, conditioners, and deep conditioning treatments to restore the moisture and elasticity to the hair strands. Its funny because many women who come to my salon always think their hair is damaged when they sit in my chair and most times it's fine they just like to think it's damaged. Typically if your hair knots easily or is very snarly it is a good indication that you have some damage going on in your hair. Dry hair doesn't necessarily mean damaged hair it's usually just lacking moisture and a good moisturizing shampoo and conditioner along with weekly deep conditioning treatments will resolve that problem. has anyone tried garnier's 100% color? i have black hair and i'm dying (no pun intended lol) to get that golden brown color the line offers.. i've heard good things and bad things about it, anyone know anything about it? also clairol's nice 'n easy has that golden brown color but i don't have any grey hairs, would that work? |

i second that.. garnier nutrisse is very gentle and nourishing, my mom uses it and she refuses to use anything else. |

try semi permanent colour or demi permanent colour if your hair is damaged as you say the colour will absorbed to your porous hair. ------------- ARGHH |

| I really like Herbal Essences. It's gentle and doesn't have ammonia, which is a big plus. L'Oreal Preference is pretty good too. Both of those turned out very close to the color on the box, at least in my case. The only kind I've tried and had a bad experience with is Clairol Nice 'n Easy- I wanted to go dark brown, but it turned out kind of a purplish-black. |

| I have used L'Oreal Feria and Preference and while I got longer lasting results with Preference, they bothstill faded terribly. I have been using BSS hair coloring and supplies (Sally) and my hair color lasts great until touch-up. |

i was blond, and decided to go brown, then slightly red (i am now blond again) but my hair was really damaged, thats why i went brown, ihad my stylist use a prism, its semi-permanet hair color. it has to peroxide in it to hurt the hair what so ever. i did it about every 4 weeks, because it washed out by then. it was awesome and helped my hair. she actually let me buy the bottle from her directrly, so i could do it myself. ask ur stylist about it. my hair grew a lot since i wasnt bleaching it anymore and didnt have any permanet color in. |
