hello!  i'm new here, and boy am i glad to have found this forum!  i've been going crazy recently over changing my hair style.

my natural hair type is somewhat coarse/resistant, small waves but not really curly, medeterranian (terrible spelling, i know), long, black... i've been using a straightening iron for about 2 years and now would like to switch to a more lively style.

i used a 2" remington curling iron for about 2 weeks to get soft/loose curls (or waves) and loved it... but alas, it wasn't strong enough and burned out just the other night!! it takes me about 2-3 hrs to curl my hair, so it's honestly not the iron's fault.

i'm now investigating on rollers... i'm not sure if they're suitable for my hair type though.. i hear that curling irons are much stronger. any opinions on whether rollers would work with me?  if so, which kind of rollers do i need to look for?

if rollers aren't for my hair type, can anyone reccomend a heavy-duty curling iron?

thanks in advance!

is this ur hair????  it's gorgeous!

but no, i don't think this would work with my hair.. this hair is a bit softer than mine, and much less wavy... if i had hair like that i would not be complaining!! i need heat of some sort to reach such results, especially towards the scalp.

thanks so much for sharing though, much appreciated

hi Anais!
hmm, well, they're rollers too but not heated ones.. i hear they're much more effective than heated rollers though.  after u wash ur hair, u need to either wait for a day for ur hair to replenish its natural oils or u can supply it with styling oils right after u shower.  while the hair is wet u roll it onto those hairsetters and wait until hair has completely dried before removing them. and voila! u have long-lasting curls/waves... i've heard good stuff about a brand called caruso that makes steam hairsetters, but i'm not sure how one would use them
