If you have natural hair and your ends are straight most likely it is damaged from heat styling....blow drying, flat ironing, etc.  Heat can permanently change the natural texture of the hair if not used carefully.  Sometimes even if you are careful it can still happen.  Do you use heat protectant?  The only way to get rid of it would be to cut it but if you really don't want to cut it I guess you'll have to deal with it until it is trimmed away or breaks off.  If you choose not to cut I would really baby those ends.  Treat them to some extra tlc to keep them strong.  Do lots of deep conditioning, keep them well moisturized and also do protein treatments monthly.
