 just a pondering i had... does using a product such as pantene to wash your hair and a shine spray with even more silicone in it affect the way hair dye grabs?

If your hair has a significant conditioner buildup it might make the dye not hold quite as well.But it shouldnt cause a real problem.

Hairdye doesnt grab right when hair is damaged though.If your hair is really damaged hairdye will grab strong on the ends and lighter up the strands to the roots.I know from previous experiencelol.

Yeah me too! 

But I always leave my hair unwashed for at least a day before I dye.  Make sure you don't dye staight after shampooing...it stings like hell!
