Ultra Violet

I was wondering would it be ok to use that dye on african american hair?

I was thinking about going purple but would i still have to lighten my hair 1st?

And If Manic Panic wouldn't be best what would?

Is it temporary dye?  I'm not a fan of coloring hair, but if it is temporary, go for it.

Yes you would have to lighten. You're not going to have any results just putting it on. ..Do you even have healthy hair already? If so, you'd ruin it.  You'd never get rid of this color...even it fades, it will tint your hair despite a non visible hue.   Also ..if you really are considering bleaching, YOU'RE CRAZY, and you're asking for trouble, girl!  Anyhow,if you really think you need to color your hair purple... your gonna need some bleach..and that jar of Manic.  Trust me, I've been in your shoes, and wanting to have crazy colored hair has its faults.  Oh, and Manic is a great dye.  But no dye is really "safe"

I've used Manic Panic many times (blue, red, purple, even green once) and have not had any problems yet. You would definitely need to bleach your hair though to get any vibrancy though so I'd probably say either pic a darker color a deeper purple. I tried bleaching part of my hair once, big mistake. Granted, I had NO idea what I was doing, but still. In the end, it's not worth it. If your heart is set on it, talk to your stylist and she/he can gauge the health of your hair and whether it can stand the treatment.

So Grow you never bleached at first when you used Manic?  What kinda results did you have.  When I first tried Manic with no bleach, my hair turned a lighter shade of brown.

my sister bleached her entire head with the flash lightening kit and then dyed it with manic panic. Her hair wasn't necessarily 100% healthy afterward but her hair didn't fall out and it looked cute as hell. She even relaxed it a couple weeks before. All the bleached part has since grown out and her hair looks fine. She was always doing crazy stuff to her hair. You definitely have to be more careful once you bleach it though. I have dark brown hair and I've used manic panic without bleaching. It doesn't show up as well as it does on bleached hair though. You can bleach it on your own b/c at a salon it would be a crazy amount of money, but definitely have someone help you. And follow instructions to the tee.
