Ladies, I'm new to this whole transitioning thing and its been a while since I haven't been able to get a comb through my hair.  I use a leave in, (Aphogee) that strenghtens and helps with tangles, but not quite enough.  I'm still getting some short hairs when I comb it out. 

Does anyone have any suggestions of what I can mix with it?  I need it to be a spray because it's hard to get to my roots.  I had forgotten how thick my natural hair was. 

I have been eyeing the "Afro Detangler" on the growafrohairlong.com website, but I'm not trying to drop $49 on a 1/2 gallon of something that I'm not sure will work!

I'll take all the suggestions I can get!

I am trying to comb it when it is wet, but I litterally have a headache from trying! 

What is "cones" in Pantene?

I use Avalon Organics Rosemany Conditioner.  I guess I could add Castor oil to it (my conditioner cost $7 regualar price for 11oz so a sistah won't be buying another one anytime soon )

Can you recommend an organic clarifying shampoo?  Do I have to use a clarifying conditioner with it? 

I have heard that Johnson's No More Tangles, Spray Detangler is good, you can find it at wal-mart and I think it's not even $3.

Yeah the baby line of hair care products, you shoulk be able to find it in the baby section or even in th health and beauty section depending on how your Wal-Mart is setup.  And as always you can ask someone who works there.  Here is a picture of the product so you will recognize it if you want to try it:

I really like the Pantene light detangling spray.  Not only is it good at getting the tangles out but I've also noticed also that breakage is minimised.  I add jojoba oil to the mixture and give it a good shake.  

I tried V05 Miracle Mist and breakage seemed to increase, which stopped when I returned to Pantene. 

Also with thick natural hair the secret is to section with ponytail holders, wet each section in turn with the spray and then comb from bottom to the roots.  I then tie into braids to sleep overnight and that will do heaps to keep the tangles away.  With my thick armpit length natural hair it takes me just 10-15 mins to detangle the whole head.

Better still detangle in the shower with conditioner slathered onto your hair.  However I'm a daily detangler so I use the pantene spray to wet it when not washing.

I used Main & Tail Detangler Spray yesterday and it was like 'WOW, someone hit the easy button on my hair!'  I was able to get a shower comb through it without many problems!
