Regardless of hear and say; highlight and permanent hair straightening do NOT mix well. Low light is okay. Highlighted hair with up to 30 volume peroxide; expect to see the highlighted areas to feel a bit dry. Bleached with 40 volume peroxide could spell hair disaster.
You’ll find most of the answers to your concerns on my Website. For example, read the bottom of the page where it says “Warning” http://www.verticalsinhair.com/beforeafter.shtml - http://www.verticalsinhair.com/beforeafter.shtml
First you need to make sure your hair is in tip top condition. This means that your stylist needs to evaluate your hair and do proper consultation http://www.verticalsinhair.com/trconsultation.shtml - http://www.verticalsinhair.com/trconsultation.shtml And then, your stylist must prescribe a hair care regimen to help keep your hair in best condition.
You did not mention whether you want the Japanese hair Straightening or the conventional hair straightening method. There’s a lot of technique as well as chemistry in hair straightening procedures and all of the step procedures are very important to bring about trouble free results.
A hair color specialist does not necessarily mean that they can also do hair straightening. You need to find an expert that specializes in hair straightening; someone that has a lot of experience and skill.
I also prepared a four part series, Subject: “Please read this” http://www.verticalsinhair.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=Messages;action=display;num=1143055203 - http://www.verticalsinhair.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=Me ssages;action=display;num=1143055203
Hope this helps.
