Well I currently have long hair that is nearly all one length. It's about mid-back. I also have some side bangs that are about to my nose. What I was thinking of doing was getting some layers put in so it isn't so boring and maybe to add some more volume. I also think my bangs are on the dull side aswell. I just have no idea what to do with them. They are a bit on the thin side so I was thinking maybe I could get them thicker and get them to come more across, like higher up on my scalp? I have no idea if that made any sense. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

What is your face shape?

It sounds like you have lots of ideas, but aren't sure what you want.  Have you looked in a Hair magazine?  That might help so that you can go to the stylist and say, "I like THIS, but I really don't like THIS or THAT'.  Otherwise if you're not specific about what you want, you might end up with something you hate and it'll take a long, frustrating time to grow out.

One thing to consider about getting layers is that they can make wearing your hair 'up' more difficult than one length hair, e.g. the shorter parts will stick out of plaits, chignons and buns.  You can create a nice 'messy' look with the different length strands, however.

Have you thought about experimenting with colour?  That might be a good way of changing your look without a dramatic cut.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Thank you so much for your advice trophywife.
My face shape if more on the squareish side.

I've tried experimenting with some color. I usually get several blonde highlights and I've been doing this for over a year now. My hair is now sort of a caramel blonde color. I've considered a change of color as I'm getting a bit bored of the same color but I'm not so sure as of which color to go with.

I'll look through some magazines. I definitely don't want to lose any of my length which has taken me just so long to grow out. This happened to me years ago where I wanted my hair cut to my shoulders and I ended up with a chin length bob.

Hmm.. well thanks for your advice and I'll definitely look at some more pictures so maybe I can find exactly what I'm looking for.
