ok, i understand that machine weft is cuttable and hand tied is not......soooooo, if you cant cut the hand tied how do you even use it?

You use the full piece. Either folding it over and sewing/bonding it to the width you need it to be. I have heard of some people cutting it, and reinforcing the edges to prevent unraveling....but Ill leave that to someone else to comment on, as I dont use handtied wefts.

Hand tieds also generally come in widths  of 10" pieces, so much easier to use without cutting.

We deal in nothing but handtied. The way my wife cuts it is she uses a drop of nail glue on the spot to be cut...lets it dry then cuts it in the middle of the spot. That keeps the ends from unraveling.

My wife also uses some Fray Block (I believe that is the name) and nail glue to double seal the wefts to help prevent shedding. This also produces a weft that allows for cutting most anywhere on the weft without using nail glue at any individual spot.

Hope that helps some.

AHA!  Fray Block!  I used that before in making bellydance costumes!  I bet that does work well for reinforcing wefts and preventing shedding!
