I think that I am going to use protac to do an install on my mom.  Her hair is pretty thin and just past shoulder length.  Question:  How much hair do I need?  And what length is good if she is looking for thickness not necessarily a lot of length?  Where does 12 inches fall?  She is 300 miles away so I cant go over to her and measure LOL.  I dont have a lot of money, but am looking into the elite remy.

Elite remy is nice! I love it! 12 inches can vary some, for me it's about a
few inches below my collar bone, it's like the perfect length in my
opinion, so you might want to get something like 14 inch so you can cut
it. Otherwise, typically you need about 1/2 a pound of hair, if you want it
thicker you might want to get a little bit mroe than that.

Also check out jetsetextensions.com they sell in 4 & 2 oz increments.  I ordered the body wave but they have fine/straight wefts too.  I have been extremely happy with the quality of the hair I ordered.  I ordered 4 oz. of the 14" body wave and it was more than enough hair.  You may need more with the straight, but if you are keeping the length just below the shoulders then 4 oz. should still be enough.
