Has anyone here dyed their WAWA hair?  I'm thinking about getting some in 613 and then trying to darken it to a medium ash blonde.

What do you think of this hair?  I'm looking for something fine and silky to match my natural texture.

Any input would be great.

Thanks!

It is synthetic.  However, in the product description it says that it can be dyed.

It wont take ordinary hair dyes correctly...been there done it! Anything I tried came out looking grey or with a mauvey/pink cast!

I have some fabric dye that Ive been meaning to do another experiment with and I plan on testing the wawa too with fabric dye...need to get around to that!

I have some 613 that I want to make hot pink or blue or something crazy like that. I bought some Manic Panic and I have some RIT dye also I'm going to play with. I'll let you know how it goes (when I finally do it)--- hopefully this week.

yep sherrie it was a few years ago so i cant remember the exact colours but worked no probs.

although, it was a medium blonde i coloured to a very dark blonde.

im not sure if platinum / very light blonde migth be more diffiult and perhaps cause that pink or grey colour that you have experienced..

Just a note about the wawa!!

I tried using my Vidal Sassoon 3-barrel waver (on the high setting) on my wawa and it melted right away. I'll have to try the low setting next time!!! lol I don't know what specific temperatures each level gets to.

Thought I'd share

Yep - it melted the moment (or VERY soon after) it touched the metal. It was the #613 exactly as it came out of the package. Was I maybe supposed to wash it first?? Does it have some sort of coating on it that might've made it melt? I'm VERY inexperienced with this sort of thing so far.

(This waver is also the device that has burned some of MY OWN hair off, so maybe it's just lethal like that?)

I use my professional curling iron on wawa at the highest temp...no problems whatsoever. That surprises me that wawa would melt. Did you wet the hair before curling? To get wawa to take good curl you have to spritz the strand with water.

I did wet it, yes. It wasn't completely saturated, but it was slightly damp.

I finally did some attempts of dying my 613 wawa.

I washed and then used a neutral filler before attempting to dye.

The Manic Panic (hot pink) I used (and left on the hair for just over an hour) didn't take AT ALL. It all washed off when I rinsed the hair.

I also used some (light turquoise) Dylon permenant fabric dye I found at JoAnne's Fabrics. Soaked it for an hour per the directions. It came out a faded bluish greenish color...I guess I should just take some pictures lol.

The search continues! Next up: RIT Dye, and I saw some permenant spray fabric paint ( http://simplyspray.com/ - http://simplyspray.com/ ) that I might as well try...let me know if anyone has already tried these!

Thanks!
