I just had my new extensions put in about 3 weeks ago.  I've always worn them in the past and never had a problem..i don't know if my head itches from possibly the glue that they've put on the wefts, or just my hair untightening from the braiding.

i've always liked the extensions that i've received from Extensions Plus in Reseda, and have always worn the "unprocessed" hair.

The new extensions are a spiral perm machine weft.  and for some strange reason, i get a very mild itch. ...

Could it also be my shampoo and conditioner?  I started using SAMY for curls, and it's great.  Since the itching, i've switched back to my old shampoo, the Farouk Line, that didn't help, then switched back to my Nioxin Line, (temporary, i loved the tingle), then back to SAMY again.

I was beginning to think it might be dandruff, and tried Sulfur 8.  which is kind of scary because it is petroleum based, but it relieved the itching temporarily..

She used the "braid" method on the extensions..

Instead of using the Sulfur 8 in the jar, you may want to try the Sulfur 8 Braid spray. Does the same thing without all the grease. It could be the braids, some people's scalps don't agree with braids because it's harder for your scalp to "breathe" with them.

you may be right...this is a new style for me..i've worn lesser hair, but with this spiral perm, there's definitely more there...

what's worse, i work in the Operating room all day ..so my hair/scalp is covered by a satin bonnet, as well as the O.R. cap.

i think you're right...

is the itching really bad? If so, you may have to take it out unfourtunalty. No hairdo is worth being uncomfortable.

maybe a reaction to the glue. even though you have had them in bfore they could have switched makes or you may have just developed an allergy over time. either way if itching persists i would take them out to be safe.

edited:if it is very mild you might be okay, however most natural extension itching, i have found for myself, passes in a week

no, as a matter of fact, i'm noticing that the more i wash my hair, it's starting to lessen.though it was mild to begin with...i did throw away the sulfur 8, and washed my hair again to rinse out the grease..(i usually wash it every three or four days)...and the itching is  starting to lose it's intensity..

I've worn this type of extension maybe 5 or 6 years ago, and didn't have this problem..it could be the glue that they've been putting on the wefts..i'll have to call them up and ask if they've changed brands...

at first i thought it had something to do with the extensionists' braiding..but realized that the itching stops after a week or two..not three weeks..

But what i have noticed is, i have a closure piece that she had put in at the front..and i definitely have a lot of itching there moreso than any other place...it was like that when i wore a straight style with a closure piece as well..i'll call them once they open and see what Cheyne's input would be as well..

thanks ladies...

With this type of weave, some itching for a week or two can be expected with some people.. A good braid spray will help.. One other suggestion is to have your stylist give you a warm water rinse after braiding and installing the hair.. This will also help to lessen the itching..

Are you here in the LA area?? If so, where are you getting your extensions done??
