Summer's almost here and hair usually goes CRAZY around this time

I'm going to be wearing my hair in Braid-Outs all through summer because they are really nice (and I auctually know how to do them...) and since I'm lazy I don't want to be bothered with my naps...my routine will be:

  • Shampoo hair every saturday with Cream of Nature Shampoo (the red bottle, since that's the only one that I can find at wal-mart)
  • After I poo, I will condition with Pantene Relaxed and Natural Conditioner.
  • Then I will moisturize my hair with the NTM Leave in Cream.
  • Finally I will braid my hair in 6 cornrows and put Tresemme Humid Defying Mousse (or whatever mousse I find) all over my hair and do my braid out the next day =)

What's everyone else's routine?

For me thats when I usually take my break from sew-ins.

* I might rock some fishtail braids (if I get the technique down) and of course my lacefront.

* In-between the two I'll have my hair out in a braid out, wrap, rollerset or whatnot as well.

* I will shampoo and deep condition every to every other week (using either Kemi Moyst Shampoo and Conditioner or Ion Moisturizing Shampoo and Infusium 23 Conditioner and my Silk Elements Mega conditioner and Ion treatments/protein here and there)

* of course keep my hair moisturized and conditioned (since I am going on vacation to the beach soon)

* Regular trims and no relaxers (which I'm good about anyhow)

I think thats it for my Summer routine

one question after you guys wet your hair how do you style it because if i wet my hair as much as you guys that would mean flat ironing it every time after and i know youre not suppose to flat iron dirty hair isnt it still dirty if you wash with conditioner with no shampoo

Your hair is not dirty after co-washing twinkletoes. In actuality you can rinse with water and clean your hair/scalp if you are not using heavy oils and pomades. I'd like to refer you to a good hair book reference of mine, Hair rules by A. Dickey and another good reference is The black woman's guide to beautiful, heathier hair in 6 weeks (2003 edition) by Carolyn gray.

Good Thread!!!

I know I'm gonna do some more overnight deep conditioning (I'm thinking once a week). Also, i'm gonna learn how to do a braidout if it kills me. I'm still sporting a twa (about 2.5 /3 inches now) and my main focus is currently maining the healthy condition of my ends. I didn't BC for nothing!!! i may do comb coils to protect the ends, but i'm going to have to read up on them and figure out how to do them and how long you keep them in.

Let's start a list of key things to remember about summer styling and hair care.
