I'm back, babay! *yelling like George from Seinfeld* For those who didn't witness the tragic results of my bleaching disaster last fall, let's rewind:  What sucked even more was that much of the (very little) hair you're seeing in that pic had to be cut off because it was fried, too! I was left with almost no hair, and my hair does NOT grow quickly. Fast-forward to now:    I did 5 or 6 rows (I can't remember)--2 were triple weft, the rest were double--plus one mini-row in a U-shape around the crown. For the topmost crown row, I should've sliced the tape in half and cut the wefts/pro-tac into smaller pieces, because I wasn't able to "bend" them that well. It's a bit visible so I can see that I'll need to make some modifications in the future. The wefts are custom-blended from PlastikHaar, all machine (I didn't use the hand-tied one). I ordered these ages ago but only got to using them now. Obviously, this hair could use a good cut, too. I'm used to the layering and razoring Issac does, and this hair is just sorta hanging. WOW Jenny that's one of the best I've seen on you. Don't cut it, I love it like that, I think it falls naturally into lovely layers, wow again, I can't believe how nice it looks. Thanks, girls. (I'm sort of afraid to cut it too!) Despite the issues at the very top and the lack of cutting, I'm really happy with it, especially since it's my first time ever with wefts and basically my first time DIYing, at least DIYing my entire head. Fortunately, I stockpiled some Pro-Tac from AMM a while back, but I'll need to restock eventually. As I understand it, a few of our lovely HB ladies have got the goods, so I'm not worried about that. The bigger problem is hair. PH is obviously my first choice, especially since I can get all sorts of custom blends, streaks, chunks, whatever (you can't see it in the picture, but there are actually three shades of blonde blended into this mix). The issue, of course, is time. I used up most of my wefts for this install, so I'm planning to place a big order with Sara, but they'll take a while to get to me. In the meantime, maybe I should use Wawa? If Metalgirl gets her therm, I'd love to try that, of course. Well, because it's synth, it really doesn't tangle in the same way that human does. It gets "thick" (hard to explain) and a little frizzy every once in a while, and when that happens, I blow it out or steam it. But I actually try NOT to do anything with it--that's the key with synth care. My synth regimen: Put in hair, detangle twice a day with large comb and Dome spray, working from bottom to top, and wash as little as possible. Stick to washing my own hair (very top of head only), and when I do wash the extensions, air-dry, no styling, and don't comb or brush until dry. This cuts down on my hair-styling time considerably. Grams...I have no idea. It's about 3 1/2 bags (5 meters of weft each), I'd say. Egads--can that be right? 17 1/2 meters of wefts in my head? Seems like my math might be off.... Jenny I did the math. For 6 rows, 2 triple wefted and the rest double wefted and one mini row. Sounds like somewhere in the area of 100- 115 inches of weft. So somewhere around 3 meters. my routine for monofibre is this - 1)wash every morning, condition with cheap drugstore conditioner every morning (currently using Dove, much better than shine sprays). 2) blow dry until half way dry, then blow out on medium setting with a round brush 3)brush out at night, put in low ponytail and sleep on a satin pillowcase every night. The less I wash and blow dry my hair, the frizzier and 'bigger' it gets. sythetic hair needs to be maintained. Without continually blowing it out, it starts getting nasty. stylists that are used to working with monofibre are always amazed at the condition of it when I come in to the salon. I've had the same batch last for 6 months + installed =)
