Hi guys. We just had an Indiana hair dresser visiting here for a week. She told us a some things, I'm going to share.
These Are For Dry Hair!
She said frequent shampooing, and swimming in chlorinated water, do more to cripple your coiffures than any hair dressers scissors. Individually or a combination of these can leave your hair arid, lifeless or chock full of split ends.
So here is what you can do to put life and bounce back in. A mayonaise bath once a week is great. Just put a dollop in the palm of your hand, and work it in for a t least 5 minutes. But a full blown mayo treatment is one hour. Then shampoo.
Beer is a wonderful setting lotion. It will give a cripy, healthy, shiny look, to even dry hair. Put it in a pump and spray it on after shampooing, conditioning, and towel drying. But befroe blow drying. No you won't smell like a lush.
If you need to blow dry, keep that dryer moving.
Do not shampoo daily if you have dry hair. It washes out the hair's protective oils. If you need to shampoo use baby shampoo. Has no harsh chemicals. Also you can use conditioner one day, and shampoo the next. Or use plain water. All will get the dirt out.
When you use conditioner. It glues the cuticles back to the shaft, while adding a lubrication. Conditioners helps prevent static electricity, which creates the frizzies.
Two of the most intense sources of heat and damage. The use of curling irons, and electric rollers.
For curly hair she suggested sponge rollers, or sleeping in moist braids.
For straight hair. She suggested wrapping slightly moist hair under and around cold rollers. As if you were creating a Pageboy hairdo. Leave them in place for ten minutes.
Do not ruffle up wet hair. Just pat it dry with a towel.
One of the easiest ways to avoid dry hair, is wear a hat during windy weather.
Also one round of snipped tips every six weeks or so should keep those frayed ends under control.
Make a rubber cap part of your swimming attire. Chlorine is one of the most destructive things to hair. For extra protection you could rub a little olive oil into your hair.
Hollywood movie stars. They condition their hair with old black rotten bananas, and mashed avacados. Lots of nutrients to feed the hair, and nurse it. Stars have been doing it for years. Just leave it in the hair to work for 15 minutes. Shampoo and Rinse. Oh sorry. You mash the two together, than work into hair.
I sure did ask my share of questions. You can not get answers by, sitting like a bump on a long. I and several others learned a lot.
So the rottener the bananas, and avacados the better.
I know we found these very helpful.
Enjoy!
Let me hear from yas. I'm not gettin any e - mails for some unknown reason.
