..I've been reading up, and I know a lot of you all say theres no difference in salon brand hair cares as opposed to drug store carriers.  I have tried both sides of the spectrum, and for some reason I just cannot stay away from expensive hair care.  Some of the hair care have the same ingredients too.  I have tried brands like Motions, Garnier, and Pantene, but I always end up with what seems like dried out hair.  Could this be a mental flaw or is their truely a higher level of quality in salon hair care?  Comments and Concerns Ladies!!

I like how my hair looks and feels after i go to the salon...I think there quality of products is much better, but it can also be sorta mental for me. I like the fact that I got my hair done by someone else.

I think it is technique.  My girlfriend can do my hair for me and it comes out nice. She's not a professional, but is by birth (mom is a hairdresser) and he has had lots of practice.  I guess if we learn their techniques, we'll do just as well.  True, salon quality applicances make the difference too.  Ceramic vs not, etc.

My cheapies/generic work just as good as the "real thing" 9 times out of time. I am very happy using Saloncare Shampoo and conditioners(sally's)beleve it or not i accidentally stumbled upon this at the beauty salon- saw that they were using it when the "premium products" were out of stock). I love my TJ castile soap(peppermint) which is a knock off of Dr. bronner's. I use DDTA and Alberto VO5 and my hair turns out great.

I think it could be technique... There was a show on 20/20 about hair care products about a year ago, and its a fact that the expensive brands are no better than the nonexpensive brands if the right ingredients are in the products that your hair needs.
