My sister needs help... She goes to two different hair dressers.  She got a lye relaxer (Narobi) from one stylist and went there and got another one (not sure if it was another Narobi relaxer) 4 1/2 weeks later from another shop because she thought she needed another one.  She has medium 4/A,3b hair, I believe. Now her hair is shedding drastically.  What should she do now to stop the shedding and get her hair back healthy again?

I would suggest trying a good garlic shampoo- Queen Helene makes one, Nutrine makes one and Henna queen makes one too. those are the only ones that i can think of- you can do a search on the net for these brands.

she's probably shedding because she got two relaxers within a short amount of time.  she's going to need a good protein treatment to repair her hair, something like Nexxus Emergencee or the Dudleys DRC 28.  A cheaper alternative is Lamour's Bone Marrow.  I had severe damage a couple of years ago and the Bone Marrow really helped my hair.

also, she should wait at least 6 weeks between relaxers.  And I'm only suggesting 6 weeks if there's a great amount of new growth.  It should really be 8-10 weeks.

yea I agree with lady jay. your sister have to be more careful, try this, use  domincan leave in treatments call Alter Ego and ORS olive oil treatment. First use the olive oil treatment then wash it out and put in the Alter Ego leave in treatment keep doing this for a couple of weeks and see how it works. Alter ego have different types of treatments leave in and non leave in. check this web page out if you can't find it in the stores. GOOD LUCK

10 weeks is too soon also. I get relaxers only twice a year.

I'm sorry if I seem ignorant of this topic, but what's the point in getting so many relaxers when 2 or 3 a year will work?

Some peoples hair cannot stretch a relaxer twice a year and they have to get them more often than that. But I do think that the lady should have waited longer to give her a hair a chance to grow a little more because too many perms in a short period of time can lead to breakage.

10 weeks insn't too short. The instuctions say 6-8 weeks. However, I believe stretching is better and the longer you can stretch, then great, but I dont think everyone can do that.

MOISTURE, MOISTURE and more MOISTURE!  and she needs a no contact style for a while, buns and styles like that.  Protein treatments and avoid heat.  Everyone else has lended some great advice too, most importantly, tell her, don't EVER do that again!

Thank you for all of the advice.  She has successfully stopped the shedding and it started getting healthy again.  Well, she has another problem.  She put a glue in weave in her hair for 2 weeks.  The stylist that put it in told her how to remove it.  Well she had problems getting that bonding glue out and has severe thinning in the top.  The whole row where it was glued tore her hair out in the crown. She's never had thick hair just med. and kinda fine.  Now it's pretty thin in the top and she's all sad about this mishap.  She went back to the stylist and showed her what happened. The stylist just apologized and put a treatment in it.  Told her to come back in a week for anther treatment.  She looked at the stylist head and her hair is really thin.  I told her to RUN like hell.  This stylist is probably taking her own advice.  Anyway, what can she do to thicken it back up? Sorry for such a long post.

She can't really do anything to "thicken" her hair besides grow more of it.  And the best way for her to do that is to leave it alone and let it grow on its own.  Her hair is in a damaged state, it needs time to recuperate.  Would she be willing to look into getting a wig?
