Hi, so I have some Diva hair from Aphrodites's salon. It is virgin Indian remy. I think it is somewhere between a #2-4 in color, and about 18" in length. It has a nice wave to it, and I think I could probably get more curl if I scrunched and dried. I haven't installed it yet, but plan on installing on Sunday. So far I really like this hair, I have washed it and it has dried really nice. It is soft and has great ends, no greys and no nits (ok a few small shells, not anthing to really talk about).

It has a zig-zag weft, and I have re-inforced this with fray-stop on one side only as it leave a white glue line. So much for drying clear as the tube says. Anyways, I have bleached a portion of this hair so that I can do some highlights. I used Wella creame lightner for 30min. and it came out great. No breakage or any damage to the hair shaft. I conditioned with just regular conditioner and it is still soft. I am going to apply color to that hair today to tone it down to a soft auburn. Then I can't wait to get this hair on my head!!

The only thing that I am disapointed with is the fold over or the beard, but I plan on trimming that now that I have sealed the weft.
I will post more pics as the process goes along. So far I am very happy with this hair!!

Ive been wearing my Diva Hair now for almost 2 weeks. While I absolutely love the hair quality and texture, it is SHEDDING like a big dog!
I even Fray checked both sides of the weft and used NG on ends. Dont think this will last as long as I had hoped...

Itgrrl, did you trim the "beard" at all? And how are you wearing it? I mean are you using the wefts or the pre-tips?
I have worn zig zag wefts before and they did shed quite a bit at first, like the whole first install, then second time around it wasn't so bad, and the 3rd had little shedding. I did not trim the fold over or the beard at all, but I am thinking about doing it with this weft, just to see if it helps with the itchy-ness.

Ok, duh, just read that you fray-checked and NG the ends, so that means your not wearing the pre-tips.

gsmilie,
I wear a sew-in and have been doing so for awhile now. It seems to be giving me the most growth while being the least damaging to my super fine hair.
I actually treated these wefts with much more care before installing than I have with any other hair I have bought just because I did want to make sure they lasted. My weavologist even doubled over the wefts and continued to sew as to not have to cut them being they are hand-tied. The tracks that I did have to cut were sealed very well with both fray check and nail glue at the ends. She even re applyed LG to the ends after she sewed in.
Needless to say, I AM disappointed with the shedding, and at this rate, I doubt this weave will last not much longer without adding more hair. My weave alone is not cheap and this hair was by the ounce .
Just for the record, the hair IS gorgeous, a perfect match in both texture and color and I would purchase again if I knew a way to keep the hair in the weft and not every where else.

Itgrrl, Did you Fray-check the whole length of the weft or just the ends where you had to cut it? If you did the whole length, did you do both sides or just one?
Oh, I hope the shedding ends soon for you!! There is nothing worse then having a hairy bathroom floor. I know that first hand!!

Itgrrrl- sorry to hear about that. It looks really amazing though! I'm
wondering if we talk to aphrodite about it, maybe she has some
solutions? I hope the shedding stops! Not just a hair bathroom floor, but
it clogging your shower and sliding down your legs in the shower, eww....
Now I know about THAT firsthand!! (and so does my maintenance
man!! )

I asked Aphrodite what I could use to seal the wefts becuase in my past experience with zig-zag wefts the ends would shed where you would cut them. She told me to use fray check, so I applied it to one side of the weft and now I have a wondeful white line at the top, it did not dry clear like the tube says that it will. I have not cut anything yet, but I am wanting to trim the beard, as I am worried that it will get really itchy.
I am going to run the brush thru the hair right now and see if the shedding is any better after I fray-checked it.

| I guess I'm spoiled after using EP hair.. I didn't have to seal ANYTHING.. and the hair BARELY sheds.. So I was willing to put up with A LITTLE shedding (like my current RK hair) but not shedding like this . I brush it, run my fingers through it, and keep hoping it's just the loose hair from the wefting process, and it will slow down.. So far this hair, while EXTREMELY gorgeous, doesn't look like it will last through the 2-3 months I normally wear my weave..
I would try sealing the wefts, but I don't like sealing wefts, and I don't think I should HAVE to just to use hair.. Takes too much time, and the success rates are inconsistent using the current methods for sealing wefts.. So far the most popular methods all have too many cons (turning white, not holding up if you use oil based products on your hair, cracking & peeling, not flexible, etc).
I did a side by side test of most of the suggested weft sealing products on some old His & Hers handtied hair I had lying around.. I got the most reported drawbacks using all of these methods.. I even tested vinyl glue because I hear that Bliss uses some sort of awesome vinyl glue to seal their wefts.. The vinyl glue didn't work.. It would get soft and sticky when wet, and the water seem to weaken it.. so imagine washing your hair with this stuff on the wefts...
I'm going to speak with Aphrodite.. She's really all about having the best products, and her customer service is ON THE MONEY.. I'm sure she will work this out..

When you get to talk with her, please give me the 411. I chose to buy her hair (which isnt inexpensive by the oz btw) so that I could wear my weave a bit longer than the 3 wks I have been getting with other hair. At this rate of shed, I could have just as easily bought a POUND of Indianhairs for what I paid for this, and prolly had it last longer!
Im gonna be sad this lovely hair didnt last!

hey gals -
oh i'm sorry to hear about the sheddiing :(
here's a ?...i know over on the BHM boards many of the ladies who wear lacefronts use "knot sealer" to keep the LF's from shedding. i wonder if something like that would work on a weft? i'm not sure how it dries, i assume clear or it would show on a LF also? i don't know much about it other than it is a spray, not a tube of glue.
perhaps diva (or someone who is a member of both bhm and this board) could pose that question over there?

Honestly so far the ONLY hair I know of (and have worn) which lasts for YEARS is Extension Plus.. That hair BARELY sheds.. It is expensive, but if you consider the LOW shedding and the reusablity of the hair (due to the LOW shedding..) well it is worth the money IMO..

Don't know what their replacement is for the softwear line.. They've always had the Italian remy hair.. The first hair I bought from them was custom hair (color texture, etc).. The hair I JUST purchased is from their ready made line.. If they had had relaxed textured hair three years ago, I would have bought it instead of custom hair.. If your concern is weft bulk, don't worry.. The regular wefts are not bulky and lay very flat..

I to have purchase remy hair on the hand tied weft. The hair is simply gorgeous, but I will not be using the hair again. The hair matted at the root and it did shed a lot. The beard hair matted, the hair was unmanegable and very tangled. The hair is already thin , so I used 8oz and it still did not look full enough. I guess I was just used to the commercial hair. I changed my client's hair three times. I didn't order the hair from Aphrodite. The hair is beautiful don't get me wrong, but different strokes for different folks.

NO ONE suggested the knot sealer.. but I've looked into it myself because I was thinking the same thing.. The application would be difficult because it is a spray, and it eventually has to be reapplied..

They have a number of options ... like this:
It's a new processed texture that's some of the curliest Indian Remy I've personally seen. This is from the same EP supplier so I know they can get it. Maybe they don't have much demand for it or maybe they're lining up to get it?
On the topic of wefting, I'm not a fan of the zig zag or hand-tied because of the gapping between hair strands:
EP sealed that weft so there's little to no shedding but it needs to be doubled/tripled over for a full look.
The no-shed/no beard flex wefts (like on EP and Elite) have that full flow coming right out of it so you're wearing full hair from tip to end:
A well-constructed weft that needs no additional work is a beautiful thing. :)

yeah i dont like zig zags wefts either, they are way to thin and sparse with hair, and for the money, this hair had better hold up.
too bad she has some bad hair.
the only wefts i would use are ep or elite, that i know is awesome, no shedding, tangling and never any bad batches.

It seems that shedding are happen in many extension users there.I advice you can reuse the hair again .use a glue pot ,and some glue grains ,you can make the pre-bond hair yourselves in your home there.
also you can use the weft glue to refix your hair .

My tentative gameplan is to machine reinforce all wefts.
Thank you all for your feedback and I appreciate you not giving up on the GORGEOUS hair!!! I will either solve the problem, or find a different supplier. In the meantime, we will deal with it individually as a problem arrises.

WOW!!!! That hair is gorgeous
I would probably be willing to commit a crime to have that
Also... I have worn lacefronts and used knot sealer... I dont think it
would work to stop regular wefts from shedding but I could be
wrong... Its is a very liquid like spray... I would try some fray
block 1st if u are trying to prevent shedding... Once the weft is in
your head I dont know of any product that would stop shedding....

Hi Ladies!
Well, my supplier responded to my concerns, and I quote, "We have never had any complaints of shedding before....the only way the shedding would occur is if unusual force or pulling is being done to the hair"....
As you may suspect, this is completely unacceptable to me. Just as you do not want to have to reinforce wefts that you are paying good money for, neither do I. I am simply too busy. My plan is now this: I will use my current stock of hair for pre-tips. I will also be reinforcing all wefts ordered in stock with Fray block. Given this, all purchases will be non-refundable and will be at your own risk. For those of you who are having issues, and have already purchased, again, I will work with you until you are satisfied.
Unless my supplier changes his tune, he will not be receiving any more business from me. I welcome anyones ideas or thoughts about this. Thanks

It is so convienent to blame someone else!! Instead of saying, wow it must have been a bad batch, I'm sorry.....I only ordered 1 ounce of this hair. I'm glad now that I didn;t order more. Aphrodite actually sent me more then I ordered because the length is not what I wanted. Very nice of her, even sent me a little card. The wefts are a mess, both of them have hair coming out of the top & even some are broken. They both have nits, one is loaded with them. They also were shedding BAD just when I ran my fingers thru the hair. I sealed them with GS-Hypo cement. I have no idea if the cement will withstand shampoo & oils from the skin, but it was worth a try...So far it has controlled the shedding down to almost nothing. I still need to color & wash both wefts, we will see how they hold up....

Well here's my thoughts..
Reinforcing wefts should be done to allow you to reinforce hand tied hair so you can cut the wefts safely without shedding.. Fray Block can also be used to help prevent normal shedding, but FrayBlock wasn't designed to stop or prevent EXCESSIVE shedding..
With the exception of EP hair (which as I have said many times BARELY sheds), I've come to accept that all other hair will shed to some degree or another.. I usually test the shedding factor by brushing the hair or running my fingers through it BEFOFE I install it.. This hair has failed this test.. I am losing BRUSHFULS or handfuls of hair, and it hasn't stopped.. FrayBlock isn't going to fix this, and IMO anyone with this hair who is experiencing similar shedding issues should get replacement hair, not this same hair reinforced with Fray Block..
I think she has made it clear she intends to take care of those of us who have already bought this hair and are having issues..
I will be speaking to Aphrodite this weekend, and I will let her know that I do not believe that FrayBlock alone will resolve the shedding.. I also do not believe she can machine reinforce this hair unless she has the right equipment to do it.. Regular sewing machine needles can cut and damage the hair and the weft.. I have used the fray block on the Diva hair and I am still having tremendous shedding issues. Also, the fray block does not dry clear as it states, so you can only do one side of the weft if you have a dark color.
I love the way the hair feels, but if it keeps shedding, it will not last longer then 2 weeks....tops!!!

I'm responding to myself! Since I guess rest of yall knew i was
tripping. I didn't realize AMM was selling THIS curly hair, i just
thought she posted a pix of the curly hair as a wish list. So I
apologize for being ignorant, but ReadingIsFundamental.. guess i need
to slow down reading on the boards and not just look at the pretty pix.

Oh my lordie!! I swore up and down I wasn't going to buy anything but NG, but I think I got to try that. I can't believe that's permed! It looks sooo natural. Is all of the kinky curly that tight? Is it tight in longer lengths like 20-24?

Okay ladies here's the latest and greatest (and hopefully the LAST) bit of news on this hair...
I just got off the phone with Laura... (AKA Aphrodite) IMO she is really wants to make this right for ANYONE who has already purchased the wefted hair.. She is only having issues with the wefted hair.. She has had no reported issues with shedding on the pre-tipped Diva hair. Therefore, she is planning on discontinuing the sale of the wefted hair until such a time as either her supplier improves the quality of the wefted hair or until she finds a different supplier for wefted hair. IF she carries wefted hair again, she will not be using zig zag wefts. Look for updates on her website in the next couple of days to this effect.
If you bought hair and are having problems with shedding, you need to call or e-mail her immediately.. She is more than happy to refund your money completely or exchange the hair for more hair which she will reinforce for you with FrayBlock. She is acknowledging that FrayBlock may NOT stop the shedding, and so if you choose an exchange instead of a refund, you would be agreeing to the exchange KNOWING this in advance.
Now before you start to post an "Oh no she didn't.." message, keep this in mind ladies.. you DO NOT HAVE TO exchange the hair.. Laura is offering to refund your money upon receipt of the defective product, and to those who planned on or wanted to buy wefted hair, don't.. She is not selling the wefted hair to anyone else. MOST of the wefted hair she received is having the same shedding issue. Therefore she really can only offer two options, give you your money back or try to see if she can stop the shedding and send you new hair reinforced with Fray Block.. There is no third option because frankly her supplier is being a butt about this.. (he insists the hair is shedding because it is being mishandled..)
I am opting for the refund.. The hair is really gorgeous, and it could be used for braids or fusion if you do your own pretipping. Unfortunately the wefts cannot be repaired with FrayBlock. You also cannot reinforce the wefts using a sewing machine as sewing machine needles will cut the hair.. Unless you have wefting equipment, you cannot machine reinforce the wefts.
I spoke with Laura for over an hour, and I believe she is an honest and sincere woman. This is a terrible situation, and she wants to make it right for anyone who bought the hair. Please call her ASAP, she will take care of you....

I sealed them with GS-Hypo cement. I have no idea if the cement will withstand shampoo & oils from the skin, but it was worth a try...So far it has controlled the shedding down to almost nothing. I still need to color & wash both wefts, we will see how they hold up....
Amanda | Have you tested this yet?? How did it hold up to washing and coloring?? I tried vinyl glue on some H&H hndtied I had, and it was great until the water hit it.. I ran it under warm water, and the glue got soft, mushy, and tacky.. can't have that in my hair..

I have washed & conditioned(in hot water) and they were fine...I don't have them in yet as I have not colored them. But, so far so good. I make handmade beaded jewelry and I have a show on Sunday, so I haven't had too much extra time. I also took my lush out yesterday due to slippage & shedding. I don;t really have enough of anything on a weft right now to do an install...I'll keep you posted tho!!

| So no mushy stuff, cracking, peeling, etc?? and the shedding stopped??? So you used the GS-Hypo jewelry glue??? Does this make the wefts hard??
Sorry for all the questions.. I am just excited..

Ok, here a another thought, has anybody tried re-inforcing the wefts with Keratin glue from a glue gun? I may try a section and see if it works, and what the results are. I hate to waste this hair and it is so soft and beautiful, but it just looks better on than in my sink!!
Hopefully Laura can find a better supplier, one that is willing to stand up for their product.

Yeah too bad about the supplier.. I saw the e-mails.. He's an arrogant a$$.. I think she's done with wefted hair for now.. At least the hair won't go to waste.. She's gonna cut the wefts and use it for pretipped hiar..

My pleasure! So many people were asking and I simply do not have the time to devote to this anymore.
If anyone has any questions, feel free to inquire. I have had my hands on just about every single texture and tested it backwards and forwards.

Thanks AMM, I have questions? Is the deep curly hair kinky/coarse type
at all? And is deep curly blend'able with the Euro curl? Thanks

Amm, does this mean that you are no longer going to sell this hair?
Also, did this hair come on the fantastic weft that the Elite Remy comes on or did you send it out to be made that way?

Forgot to add, Aphrodite is selling the SAME hair too, and she is offering smaller increments (4, 8, & 12 oz) for ladies who want this hair, but don't want to buy a full 16 oz.

This is the coolest thing ever! Amm is a queen amongst women!
I've already placed my order for a pound of that gorgeous Remi hair
(yep, exactly the same as Amm's Elite Remi.) $192.50! I'm in
frigging hair heaven here! Wagman Primus is a reputable company
that has been around a long time, mostly selling paint brushes, of all
things. Patty has been most helpful. I have no qualms about giving
my business to these people. Once again, I weep for you non-
brunettes--this is blonde discrimination at its worst!

It's funny... when I first started reading about extensions on this site
last year I had NO idea of what any of this stuff meant. I actually
thought that extensions were attached at the ends of the hair rather
than at the roots. I remember reading posts about "Yaki" hair and
wondering if it was hair from yaks!
