Hi there! I hope someone can help me. I just came back from getting my hair done and the more I look at it the more it looks GREY! The colorist applied two different colors of highlights and also died the base. She normally keeps the colors warm but not today!! Do you guys think I should wash it now? I have this product from John Frieda (I think) where you put it in your hair after you wash, leave in for a few minutes and rinse and it strengthens you golden highlights - do you think I should use that? Going back to her is not an option because she is leaving for vacation for a week and i am going to Aruba on Friday! Someone please help!!!

Hi Jenn, If you're talking about John Frieda Glaze, it may make your hair look greenish. I'd suggest you try it in a small section before using it all over. (Though a clarifying shampoo should take it out, if it does get a green tint.) Or... You might try giving it a few days. If this is a significant change from your former color, the "grey" may just be your imagination running away with you. Get feedback from friends, etc. Good luck! Karen |

Could be - I know that color sometimes changes after the fist couple of shampoos. However, why would the blond in the "glaze" )and yes that's what it is :) ) make it look green? I didn't see an blue in the ingredients?

Well, since you described your hair as looking grey, it sounds like you don't have much red or yellow in it. Your hair may have more blue in it than anything, in which case adding yellow (the glaze) will give you a greenish tint. I've done it before - it's not the end of the world, but it's not particularly attractive. I prefer to avoid it, if possible. :) |

I don't know if you'll see more gold tones as you wash your hair more, but from your desciption, I tend to doubt it. If it was me, I'd try a strand test with the glaze and see what happens. Glaze just coats the hair, so it will wash out without too much trouble. Sorry - I don't know anyone to recommend. Since moving to NJ, I've always done my own color. You might try a web search. Some salons (ex: Panico) categorize their stylists by skill level and provide bios on their specialties. Please keep me posted ~ I hope things go well! |

I really don't see why they couldn't add some gold tones. I don't believe they'd have to strip the color. They can do whatever you want! Probably could just do a toner for you. Might be easier to just have them do it rather than you experimenting. Incidently, what you got is what I'm always trying to achieve. I hate gold and I always want it ALL out of my hair! Ha, ha. :) P.S. They'll probably do it for free since it's only been a few days and it didn't turn out how you normally want it. Just give them a call and tell them you're not happy and can't get used to it and you'd like to get it fixed; that's it's not what you usually come in for. |

Jenn, Your hair won't need to be stripped, since you're not trying to go any lighter. :) I doubt sitting in the sun will bring out any gold tones. I was at Walgreens earlier today and read the ingredients on the JF Glaze. You should be ok to use it without turning green or violet. (If you're not happy with what the glaze does, you'll be able to wash it out.) Karen |

Thanks for all of the comments. It was appreciated. I washed and rewashed and rewashed with a deep conditioner. The ash is slowly disapearing - I am getting used to it. The thing that really ticked me off is I called the salon twice and asked to speak to the colorist. She didn't even call me back!!! I called for the manager who wouldn't take my call and she never called me back! UNBELIEVABLE! If I were still miserable I would march my butt right over there but it's not worth it because they lost a loyal customer!! SHEESHH

| Shame on those people at that salon! That is such BAD business. Don't they realize you can tell everyone you know not to go there? Word of mouth is usually how they get their business. I sure wouldn't go there if a friend told me about that! So ridiculous. Anyway, I'm glad your hair is better. :) |

| I am a natural blonde and I once used an ash brown color. My hair turned green. I had to go to a salon and have the color stripped. I was told it was best to stay away from ash colors because they are unpredictable. I feel for you. |
