I got my fusion strand by strand extensions done yesterday and I am flipping out. My hair is quite short the longest about 6 inches and the shortest about 4 inches. It was a tough job and almost every piece of hair on my head (except the part/crown for coverage) has extension hair on it. the bonds are very tiny so obviously alot of hair was not used on each bond. I was fine when I was there and everything and I'm getting it cut in a couple days, all layered and stuff but it looks REALLY thin. My mom says it looks like a rat tail and after actually looking at it it's way too thin.

What do I do??? I spent a lotta money on this. :(

Now my hair hasn't been styled or anything and it hasn't been cut. I plan to have at least 3 to 5 inches taken off the bottom and then heavily layered. Is this going to help at all?

If you spent a lot of money, you should definately go bac and express
your concerns. I know personally, with strand by strand and short hair, it
never really comes out REALLY full and thick. But, you should atleast see
what she can do to help you out. I think layering it will help some, it just
makes it look better I think.

Thank you guys. :)

I am going to try and get it cut today, I'm going to ask them to cut it a bit below my shoulders and layer the heck outta it and see if that helps.

Do you know how much hair (in ounces) that was added? It looks to me that there was not enough hair installed. I would def. get ahold of the person who did the install before you do anything. layering my help a little, but if there isnt enough extension hair, layering wont fix the problem.

Here is another thing to ponder, why didn't the extesionist cut and style your hair?  If you paid a proffesional to install them, then they should also be cutting and styling your hair, it should be included into the cost.

Also, that does not look like alot of hair at all.  What method did you have installed?  Also, the bonds thru-out your hair should be normal sized, not super small.  When you get to your temple area, and closer to your part line, then yes, they should be smaller so that they are undetctable, but not thru-out your whole head!!

Good luck, and DEMAND she fix your hair!!!

ok well I talked to her and she said that it looks like that because of the thickness of my hair and such and that she promises that when I get it cut it will look much better. And it is pretty heavy so it is really weighing it down. I never wanted super long hair so cutting a bunch off doesn't bother me I had planned on having it just below shoulder length.

I hope it works out okay for you after a cut. I have hair like yours.
My first install had a bit more hair than yours does now. Wearing it
just below shoulder length was do-able but I still found it much too
thin. I've got twice the hair in now and it is freaking fabulous! After
this bout with strand by strand extensions, you really should look into
DIY wefts with Protac tape. For whatever you paid for these
extensions I'm sure you could purchase enough nice human hair and
supplies to have a thick head of hair that could be re-done (by you)
every six weeks or so for a few years.

Not great lengths.

It was a type of fusion/strand by strand

I think that it will look great after it is layered. And then if you find that it's just not enough hair, have her put some more in. It could just be weighed down too much making it appear thin. Perhaps your hairdresser was thinking that your hair is thin and with thin hair you don't want it to heavy pulling and breaking your own hair from all the weight. How about slapping a couple of glued or taped wefts in the back for more fullness?
