| My recent install with hair that I pretipped with E6000 glue is shedding more than it should, the same thing happened when I used keratin pellets. What is the correct amount of glue (any kind) to put on the hair before rolling. I thought that I had saturated the strands but the tips are still shedding. Thanks for any suggestions... |

Are you testing your strands before you put them in? I like to pull down the length of my pretip to make sure the hair wont shed.Plus another thing to make sure the tip is saturated enough is to put the glue on while holding the tip spread out between your fingers(like a fan) as much as possible.then work the glue through with your fingers.Then roll it into a pretip. | Try tipping the ends were you cut off at the top with nail glue. I have little to know shedding when I do this. |

I usually double dip and make sure I roll real tight, snip the tip and then use a drop of crazy glue! But now - I oorder pre-tips ------------- Current install: 18" Bohyme 18/22 mixed with 613 -200 microlinks.....pre tipped by me!!! (never again!) |

Sometimes hair that is already tipped can be too costly for my budget, but mostly I do my own pre-tips in order to get the color or texture I want that is not offered in pre-tipped strands. Hair with some wave works best for me and there are not many options for pre-tipped with wave textures. Besides...I'm a control freak! |

Regarding your Pm,yes it would work for links too. And as far as nailglue goes,I have never used it over my pretips.Not even over LG.And I have never had any shedding.The nailglue is used to keep the glue underneath out of your real hair.Cause it can be a real pain to get out LG and over notorious glues. Shedding is remedied by making sure your tip is fully saturated before rolling it. |

Alot of really good suggestions here....I'll add this one, since I don't believe I saw it mentioned and I do (rather make that 'Did' until Protac came along) custom blend colors and do all my own pretipping, and virtually have NO shedding complaints..... #1. I use my heating wand to melt some adhesive from a keratin stick (just hold the stick, use the hot wand to melt some adhesive). I've tried almost all the glues and think 'His and Hers' is the best value and works equally to more expensive brands. #2. Then using the bit of melted adh. that's on the wand, apply to the end of the extension hair-plug, smashing and incorporating the glue into the hair thoroughly. (I make this tip about 3/4" to 1 inch, as I'm going to cut the very end of the tip off slightly) Then I roll it between my thumb and forefinger while it's still warm into a nice tight tip. If I feel for some reason that I need to re-roll the tip again, I use the wand to melt the tip and then re-roll it. Often I will put two or more colors that are already in tips together to give various highlight and color effects. #3. If I'm making the tips for micorings/links, shrinkies etc. I make sure I have the right size tip diameter to fit the method of installing (i.e. strand by strand fusion, links etc.) Some of my clients that like 'big hair' perfer larger extension bundles, while some prefer small tiny extensions~~all of my clients are repeat ext. wearers, so I adjust what I do according to their preferences if possible as we discover what is more comfortable...etc. I hope this isn't too confusing to understand, and that it will help pretippers! ha

| I'm going to "attempt" my first pretip. I have gathered all types of info from the site, but there is so much, it's a little confusing! I'm going to try adhesive lined shr*****s, because I'm so sick of seeing my expensive hair go down the drain!!! I'm not sure whether or not to pretip with Liquid Gold or Keratin. Also, this is the first of heard of the nail glue being used so that other glues don't stick to it, for example the adhesive inside the shr*****s. I thought you were supposed to use it just so that the pretips won't shed! |

I first suggested nail glue a couple years ago as a final coating. It stopped the tips from spreading and flattening under the pressure of pliers. When maintenance time came around, the tips were still tight, round and went right back inside the ring and saved tons of time not having to respin them.
LHD is right - a tip saturated correctly when it's made does not shed. I make tips a couple different ways but Autumn's suggestion is one of the ways I do it, too, and I find it to be extremely easy. A wand and glue pellets is one of the quickest methods and the glue gets in there really well. For shrinkies, holland, be careful with how much glue you tip with. Crap! I didn't even think about that! I've never used them before, so I'm a virgin! So if I pretip myself using a wand and keratin pellets, make sure it saturates the hair REALLY well, then I could continue doing fusion without so much shedding?
Amm, I value your opinion sooooo much as you are clearly an expert on the subject, so what method should I be using? Shri***s with prebonds, or fusion? I've had a problem with shedding, but honestly I think it's because the coworker that does my extensions is getting lazy and not heating the glue hot enough to totally saturate the strands. If I were to use the shr****s, how would you suggest that I pretip the hair? What kind of adhesive should I use? |
