I've been reading this board for quite sometime, and I have a question. A lot of women  have their hair colored. What is an individual to do if they have a shrinkies, extenshell to do with new growth. I can imagine the extenshells being able to take the abuse of the chemical, but what about the shrinkie? Help would greatly be appreciated.

I've done my color touch-ups with shrinkies, silicon microrings and
Protac in place. I haven't had any problem with any of them. I'm
just very careful to rinse all the coloring products out of the bonds. I
only use 10 V. developer; perhaps a stronger developer or bleach
would be more damaging to some forms of extension bonds. I would
think that any coloring product that wasn't completely rinsed out of
the hair could really trash your own hair, as well.

Thanks Kristie, I was just interested in that because a lot of women get there hair bleached blonde and their roots grow back black or brown and that to me poses as a problem. I know that you can add hilites with the extension pieces , but just wondering about the blonde's. So you think maybe  semipermanent color's  only?

Thank you, you've been a big help

I've dyed it with microlinks in many times before ( I used to just install
and match whole head and extensions one color.) I've never had any
problems, but i've heard other people have (why I stopped doing it.)
Probably if you are careful it will be fine.

I think it was Jenny on here that had the really bad breakage from
bleaching it. That scared me for life!

i bleach my roots from mid brown to very light blonde using 40 vol regularly when wearing shrink*** and have no trouble but i am a hair technician and so colouring is one of my specialities, but as long as you shampoo the colour out thoroughly and rinse well you should have no probs chick xx

I have also bleached around the shrink links of my client's hair.  Just rinse it very well.
