This is after I used Color Opps and removed the dark color.  Box states that I may want to add filler before I re-color it.  I am not sure where to go from here.  Reading Claude's sticky post, and I see the orange in my hair.  What do you see?  What is a filler?

I am still re-reading Claude's post and from what I understand so far I can't color my hair because it will not take unless I bleach it?  I am so confused now, and want to cry.  I have a number 20 developer and a Violet tonal powder lightner by kaleidocolors.  It will lighten up to 4 levels. 

I want to have one solid color and think the above would be a great highlighter.  I don't want to be that light all over my head though. 

At this point, I would just go with getting some of the orange out of it, and any other funky color you see in it.  I am so upset.  I can't figure out what to do.

I have a semi-permanent hair color that is light blonde, Sahara, 02 by clairol, natural instincts.  It is suppose to stay on 10 to 15 minutes, but I think my hair will absorb it quickly.  I could leave it on for about five minutes and rinse out to see what happens.  It says this will not lighten my hair, just enchnaces color and shine.  The box has the orange outline on it.  Wonder if that means orange is the counteracting color? 

ok, I don't know anyone where I live, so don't even have a hair person to call to fix it.  Going to cry now.

This is the color that I would like to have again...how do I get back to this.

Or at least have the same undertones of this color. 

You might try reviewing ammonia's post on using manic panic bleach and shampoo.  She seemed to get the results you ultimately want. 

With respect to the color remover, it seems to me that if you have removed the color then you should be able to lighten using color and a developer without having to resort to bleach.  I believe you can lighten up to four levels (depending on the developer) without having to use bleach.  Perhaps you can strand test (remembering to use a color with a base to counteract the orange tones left in your hair).  See if that might work.  Maria

Ok, I have a number 20 creme developer already from Sally's.  I can go there and get some color that has an orange counteract agent in it.  I think a number 9 level is where I want to be.  My natural hair color is 7A. 

Do you recommend a specific color product that I could purchase from Sally's?  I spoke with the person that works there, and she was not very helpful.

I don't mind yellow in my hair.  I don't like orange.  So that would be a counteract of blue?

Sorry to say this but you need to bleach the orange and lift it up to a level 8 to 9 ish (warm tone)If you want a (cool tone) you would have to lift to a pale yellow than use a toner

Salons have been bleaching my hair for years and the orange is going to be there also  color doesn't lift color.So applying haircolor to your hair won't lift it (lighter) very few people get lighter blonde shades with haircolor. If you are a light blonde to begin with you may be able to use haircolor to get a lighter shade of blonde. Those box haircolors we see at the store lift maybe if your lucky 2 shades.The developer is doing the lifting.

Also if you are a natrual dark blonde some people can lift their hair with a high lift. If you are a light brown to dark brown a lot of people  end up with brassy hair orangey yellow, using a highlift tint. So bleach is the only way to get to blonde especially with dark brunettes .

In your case you are at orange yellow stage you need to lift (all the orange) out and bleach to a golden yellow (warm tone) or a soft pale yellow if you want a cool tone.

Yes blue counteracts with orange but toners just help drab the color so it won't look so brassy. In the end you will still have the orange in your hair.

My natural haircolor is level 8 Ash. 

Yucky dishwater blonde.  Don't want to go Platinum blonde, but a gold blonde.  I just want a solid color, not patches of orange throughout.  So how do I lift off the orange out? 

After I lift it out, then I bleach to a golden yellow tone.  the small thread of highlight you see in the photo is bleach with the 20 developer and the violet toner/bleach combination.  I left it on for 10 minutes.  Pretty color for a highlight, but don't want to be that color all over. 

Thanks for your suggestions.  I have a photo of the color I want.  I have a difficult time seeing the undertones, and with colors in general. 

Should I just put on the 20 lifter for about five minutes alone to see if it lifts it pass the orange stage?  What would it do to the other hair strands?

I never did my highlights at home but I can tell you what the salon may do.

With highlights

They will take your orange and try to bleach it out. If you want lowlights the safest way to do that would be bleach your hair in foils blonde, than whatever hair is lift out use haircolor for your base (lowwlights). Most colorist would rather dye your whole head with haircolor than take strands of your hair and try to bleach it to blonde  .  Not good@!! you are just asking for more damage from the bleach because it has to eat through the haircolor this process is called tone on tone. If you can find a haircolorist to do it the first way I explained it your hair will be less damage.

Although doing your hair  at a salon is called color correction and can cost a lot.Anything a haircolorist has to work with that isn't VIRGEN HAIR is color correction! The colorist has to time probably difffernt sections of your hair because you have some yellow and some orange mixed in your hair.

If you just want all blonde no highlights you still have to bleach out the orange, and not trying to overprocess your yellow (if you have yellow) in your hair. Than tone yes gold toner if you want a warmer shade of blonde

Got it.  Yes My hairstylist that I don't use anymore because she butchered my hair cut...but she put a semi number 8 all over and then added #10 highlights in it.  I may just add a few highlights myself with the foil only on a few strands through any parts that I notice are orangest.  Then while in the foil add the permanent hair color of 8G for only five minutes.  I know my hair will soak up what ever I do every quickly.  By the time I get the foil done and get the other in, then rinse it all out.  My strand test for the highlights was a 10 minute test.  So I figure it would be 10 minutes completely for both of them done.  That would even it out and the highlights I want to be so little, like TWILIGHTS is what I have heard it called. 

Or I could leave it alone and wait. 

What would happen if I just added the gold toner on my hair like it is now?  Without any bleach or color?

I'm not sure if you add gold toner with orange. My highlights are level 10 pale blonde. I had a colorist  She didn't know what she was doing she lifted me to orange, not yellow not even close to pale yellow and she added a toner (ash) counteract the orange it turned slightly greenish. Not good yikes in fact I had many colorist do blotched bleach jobs on my hair. Finaly found one that knows how to bleach hair.

I really like the cool tone blondes so warm tones I am not to familiar with. You may want to do a strand test put the toner on the orange and see what shade it comes out. But if you are wanting blonde the orange needs to be lifted out.Unless of course you are shooting for a stawberry blonde.
