i saw on doc's site that you can use bulk hair in a microring, just fold it in 1/2 and slid the folded bit up there?  wouldn't this shed?  or even pop out?  what's a good way to use bulk w/ protacs?  i saw that thing on doc's and now i'm all confused.

Hi,

I am also new here, but not new to extensions . I have tried this, but it only works with hair that has no cuticles, or synthetic hair. With cuticle hair it becomes a tangled mess and your own hair will be caught up in it, as the cuticles are going in the opposite direction when you fold over cuticle hair.

The second drawback of this method is that it is too time-consuming during the install, as it is a lot easier when you have pre-tipped hair. Even though pre-tipping takes time, the install itself takes a lot less time.

Another drawback is that it sheds every time you wash, comb or brush your extensions. There is a plus side: when you have synthetic hair or hair with no cuticles, you can fold the hair over completely (the hair has to be very long, though), and you end up with more hair in a micro ring.

However, I do not know how the silicone microrings will hold up with bulk hair, as I have not tried this before.

I hope this helps!

There is one in the FAQs section =) pretty straightforward though you
might want to trial it on some "cheap" hair before going ahead and doing
it on expensive hair :)

Yeah, I would imagine the shedding would be horrible!! And it seems like
a lot of work still!!! I'm still to lazy to even imagine pre-tipping myself or
doing something like that!

it looks like it's on it's way to working, but that there's some step missing.  like maybe there's a way to affix the top loop to the ring or even pinchbraiding it, ringing the to of the braid, and letting the rest go loose...
