I am doing an experiment for my chemistry class on different types of shampoo--I want to see if there is a chemical difference between drugstore shampoo and salon brand shampoo.  I am testing the pH balance of different types of each and want to analyze the surfactants in the shampoo....

problem is, I dont know how I am going to go about that...if anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it!

Thanks!

Do you have a supply of pH strips? or do you have a probe system?

I'm not sure about the ratio of diluting shampoo with water, but as long as you dilute it at the same ratio across the board then you will be able to compare statistics.

A shampoo is usually between 5-6 on the pH scale. They always say "pH balanced" but it doesn't really mean anything.
