Subject: Coloring Bohyme

Well today I received my Bohyme in the color D613/27. I decided
to touch up my roots first and bought a brand new toner. Well I
have finally acheived the impossible, which is bleaching my hair and
coming out with NO yellow. My hair is very hard to lift and no
matter how hard I try usually I have a yellow tint no matter what toner
I use.
I used Loreal Medium Irridescent Blonde since it had a purple
base.....my hair is now the gorgous very light pastel blonde I have
always dreamed of. The problem is that now the Bohyme I just
installed looks yellow in comparison to my hair. It looked ok
when I did the comparison off my head but now it is painfully obvious.
Has anyone ever colored a very light Bohyme and got away with it?
I was thinking of putting the toner I used on it (it is a toner that
uses 20 vol developer) for 5-10 minutes but I don't want to ruin my
beautfiul Bohyme. I know to strand test, but I am more worried
about the long run.and the dreaded tangling etc.
If anyone has any experience with this please let me know!!

You don't need to color or tone it, you need either shimmer-light's, or (my personal favorite) un-red mixed with conditioner. Both are inexpensive and can be purchased at sally's beauty supply

I actually tried the unred first (I learned about it from one of your
previous posts, thank you, it is awesome!), but it only helped a
little. The color difference was huge, probably the two opposite
ends of the light blonde spectrum. The contrast was too much for
any hope of blending.
I decided since I would either need to color it or take it down and
throw it away anyway that I would try the color. The color turned
out perfect, just like my hair. Time will tell how bad I screwed
it up. I am going to order a bohyme color ring so I can match
this color next time.
Thanks!!

Toners never use 20 volume peroxide, it's more like 7-10 volume. You don't need a high volume because you are not trying to lift color, just deposit it.
When hair is too yellow I use Shades EQ in Platinum Ice or I have used the Scruples Platinum toner with great results as well.

Some toners do use 20 volume developer~
Wella Color Charm toners at Sally Beauty use 20 vol
They should only be used on hair that you want to tone, though. So if you colored your whole head, use it all over. If you just did highlights, I would only use it on the highlights since it will change your base hair color slightly if applied all over.

So far, so good. The hair still looks great and feels nice. I am
having some tangling, but nothing to be alarmed about. I am
starting to think I was spoiled with the EP dark hair and even good
quality light blonde hair tangles a bit.
I will get some pics soon and post them. I did try the
purple stuff (I used the gold corrector in my own conditioner and also
tried the unred after it) first but the difference in the color was
still too much. I looked like a wierdo with a very cool pastel blonde
at the top and yellow gold hair down my back. It is totally my
fault for ordering hair before I toned my own, and the 27/613 from
bohyme is very golden.
I know coloring already bleached/toned hair is a bad idea and knew it
going in, but it was either that or take down and throw it away and
order new hair. Even if the hair falls apart after a week I got a
weeks wear out of it lol.
I have used many toners (I went to cosmetology school 6 years ago and
made it most of the way, I'm a drop out who switched to nursing) that
didn't require the 20 vol developer but didn't have the dramatic effect
of what I use. I pull a ton of gold no matter what I do,
realistically I shouldn't even be a blonde but I just can't resist
it. My natural hair is officially FRIED lol.......but thanks to
fake hair technology and lots of silicone I have gorgeous silky long
blonde hair.
Thanks for all of the advice, it is so nice to have advice of the
experts right at your fingertips....not to mention for free! This
board is the greatest!

I use So Silver by Matrix and it's amazing. It takes the brassy tones out of yellow hair and makes it pale blonde.

I love the purple stuff, and like Kalika said the unred is great.
I really had hair beyond all that though, as it was 2 completely
different colors. The purple stuff or unred didn't touch
it. It is still holding up nicely!!

I have the same problem. Just received my very first hair, Bohyme #613 and it's too yellow for me! My own hair is very pale blond. What did you use to color your Bohyme and how long did you keep the dye on the hair? I don't want to color my own hair in a darker shade, cause I'm going to make a clip-ins and remain pale blond when I don't wear my extensions.
Thank you.

ya know- another option for u is to add some light blonde strands throughout your hair to match the top, it will all blend together!

Ya know, I absolutely agree that the 613 is a yellowy blonde. It's not the same as my colour and it screams when I put it next to my hair.
I haven't attempted to colour it but I have used So Silver which takes the edge off it. I always think the 613 is more like a 22 or 24.
I'd be keen to know how to whiten it..

Sammy, when you use So Silver does the hair look lighter too (which I doubt), because 613 looks like dark golden blond
Thank you

Tangles, my first install with this hair I had dyed all of it (a mix of
LG and protac) but when I got the sew ins I needed more hair and
ordered some 22 which was super yellow again. I never colored the
22, just stuck it in layers starting underneath and you are right, it
totally blended with the other hair, but that was 4 oz vs the other 8
oz that are in there dyed.
The hair that I colored (I used hair color on part of it and then toner
on the other part, both ended up about the same color but the hair that
I used the actual color on feels better) doesn't feel any different
than the hair I did not color. (BTW, none of the silver/purple/unred
stuff worked at all for me, it does with my own hair but didn't phase
the extension hair for some reason).
Since then I have experimented with a bunch of different colors and my
favorite is the Loreal color from Sally's in the light irridescent
blonde 9.2 (violet base) which makes the yellow hair a beautiful very
light pale blonde with no yellow in it. I left it on 5-10 minutes
(aimed for 5, but by the time I actually got the water started and
found the shampoo etc lol) and it is perfect. I will say the
stuff I left on longer got a little too ashy looking for what I
like.....but the stuff left on for a short period of time is a perfect
light pastel blonde. The slightly darker shade, medium
irredescent blonde is a really pretty color also (it is 8.2 I believe)
and I have used it on my real hair before and also the extension hair
and has turned out great.
I really like the jetset color #21 and the dlux mx613/24.......both are
perfect pale blonde/no yellow colors with the dlux being slightly
darker....but I love the extra length that Bohyme gives so I think I'll
continue to use it and dye it when I get it.

Russiancat, it still looks more yellow than white but it does take the brassiness off. It's a great shampoo that I'd recommend.
I still don't know how to get the whiter blonde though. Maybe bleach it? That's the ONLY flaw of Bohyme that they don;t have a white that matches my colour.
