I liked my hair when the top layer was just above my ear and I could flick out the lower layers like this:

| Reaching shoulder length when growing out a mid length style in early 1990's was found an accomplishment and a sign of successful progress. It was past that awkward stage we all dislike and allowed my hair to be tied into a nice ponytail. |

My favorite was about shoulderblade length, when I could "ruffle it up" and have my bangs fall into my eyes. That was fun.
