I have decided to have Nici do my hair when I can get down to I found a guy at a salon who does it reasonably (IMO) and actually did a demo on me so I could see what it felt like. I have really thick hair, so he folded/doubled the weft over and sewed it on. I have been lurking and researching a lot off this forum, but haven’t come across a whole lot on having wefts sewn onto tracks. I would like to get some advice and know what to expect from this technique. When he did the demo on me, it felt pretty tight, but it didn’t hurt. I asked if he could do it looser, but he said it would last as long. Can anyone give me any feedback on this technique and any other advice as a newbie? O was also thinking of experimenting with Pro-Tac after I had them removed. Thanks in advance! |

I have the sew-n and love it. Use good hair bss hair can matt within a week. I switched mine to jetset hair after terrible matting. Now I can wash as much as I want and its easy to brush.
My braids were very tight and I can tell a few hairs have pulled from the root at the beginning of the braid so tell them that you do not want it too tight. Mine were so tight my head was extremely sore for a week and the scalp was red and formed a pimple at the beginning of every braid so next time I will tell them not to do it too tight. I would rather have the weave not last as long than pull out my hair.
In my opinion I think I will use this method from now on. It is so easy and natural. I love it a lot more than the fusion and it will be easy to take down and get put back in. The best part is no chemicals on my hair except my hair dye! I have seen a few of her clients who have had great hair growth while wearing weaves and I am hoping to grown mine out within the next year.

unless they're being just plain sadistic, most braiders will braid tight, but not so tight it'll hurt you. the 1st few days your hair will grow a teeny bit and "relax", then the discomfort is gone. rule of thumb: if it is actually painful, have them re-do it, if it's just a bit tight, leave it. also, when you wash, dilute your shampoo with water 1:2. this i recommend for any extensions. the reason is that shampoo is thick and will get caught under the braid (or bonds or links) and just go bad/rot. just think of it: nasty, dirty soapscum stuck to your scalp ALL day (or until you next wash your scalp). so aside from thinnning the shampoo, rinse rinse RINSE. stand under the running water and methodically massage each track with your fingertips until ALL the soap is gone. as far as what to expect, it'll look great but feel odd when you touch your head (no running fingers through your hair unless it's past your chin). every once in a while it's nice to seperate the tracks, just slide your fingers between the wefts and finger comb out. putting the hair into boinks looks bizarre w/ wefts, but it can be done! i've got protac now, i'm on my 2nd install. i have gotten SO much better since i began! i take care of the hair better (mine and the one i paid for  ). i love the protac, honestly. i can put them in, they're easy to care for, and cheap cheap cheap! before going to the salon guy, give the protac a try. since you just want to have something before your trip, this is great.here's my protac-ness: http://www.hairextensions101.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=137 ------------- what I'm wearing: 1 pkg 18" DLux SS #2 and protac |

Thanks for the replies, ladies!
I am not going to have a braid to sew the weft onto. He is making a track by sectioning hair and tying knots with thread and linking them all togther. Has anyone ever had this method done?
I am a little scared too try the pro-tac, I can't seem to comprehend the directions that are explained. LOL
