I actually haven't had any bad dealings with her yet but I know of a lot of people who have.

Yes Nicey that was fusion and we're talking about big nasty bonds with hair stuck in them from above and below in nearly every bond, can you imagine the pain when trying to brush and sleep with that x

oh my god!! it just goes to show you that although they say you dont need to be a hairdresser to do extensions training you at least have to have a better idea than just doing a one day training course and calling yourself a professional!! its like me watching a beautician do a few waxes and then calling myself a beautician!! amanda and i both have hairdressing training under our belts and it does show in our standard of work!!(not meaning to be big headed, just stating fact) poor girl i feel for her i really do!!!

oh! no i am new to all this just found out yesterday ( by amanda ) that i am havin fusion )not by amanda someone else . i just asked a question relating to what poeple thought i might be having . now amanda you have quoted  "fusion big nasty bonds with hair stuck in them "about the girl on ebay with the bad extensions does this mean that this is a bad way to have them installed , am i reading everyones post wrong , I only realy did reserch on hair and not attachment .I am not a hairdresser or extesionist or anthing just a plain coustmer who is blind to all this . please tell me this is not a tooooo bad of a method of having them installed
WHAT is it best way or does it depend on the persons hair , or weather the hairdresser only does one method , i suppose your lucky if you get someone who can do a number of ways of atachments

lol youre right tangles, people think its so easy to do !! even in the areas that amanda and i live in we have had to put right hair extensions that have been done by people with certificates proving they have done a course, the people doing the courses are gonna pass them regardless so they get the money out of them!! you cant learn to be a proficient extensionist in one day! but then again amanda and i are quite happy about it cos it brings us more business in!!!!

ive done two 1 day extensions courses and loads and loads of paractice and theres nothing wrong with the extensions i do ive never had anyones hair falling out or made a mess like we have seen before...so i think thats maybe a little harsh! everyone has to start somewhere...but yes i agree the extensions in question were very bad and yes i really feel for her but not all the people that are new to extensions make a mess like that! x

ooh sorry nicey didnt mean to offend you, but when youve been in this business as long as i have and have had to put right so many extensions disasters, (including professional salon mess ups) you then realise just how many bad extensionists there are and theres a lot who have had no interest in hairdressing beforehand and just decide to do it cos its a good money making scheme so they do a few private courses and off they go. most of the highly reputable extensions courses are only available to salons because of this. some people have a natural skill and flair for it i dont dispute and it comes very easy to them after a couple of courses, and they`ll probably do a top class job! but like i say the ones in it for the money( IE the girl who is the subject of this posts topic) are usually the bad ones as its not making their client look and feel terrific after doing a job with pride that fuels them on but just the hard dirty cash!! ladies am i wrong?????

you're right leelou, there are flybynight people in every corner of everything that can be done to make a buck, im glad you clarified what you mean exactly though because at first read the posts seemed a bit like salon expert snobbery Tongue     and i am thankful for your, and other's, expertise to help me fit my own hair in :)

aw thanks nursie, no i dont just mean freelancers can be bad cos i AM freelance, like i said ive had to sort lots of salon done extensions disasters out but at least they were covered by insurances before they can trade in case of disasters, unlike freelancers who could be doing it as a little sideline without insurance as they sometimes arent declaring to the taxman that they are self employed!!this leaves  clients totally powerless if they have a disaster!! this is what has happened to the girl in the pics on the ebay ad mentioned in this posts topic

I really don't understand folk who don't get insurance, I mean it only costs me under £100 a year for insurance and that insures me for one million, who's going to if they were to, sue me for more than that lol x

yeah lets sue each other!! then we could buy a garage full of porsches!!but seriously, public liability insurance is good though and does ensure a certain amount of professionalism, and  a responsible attitude towards the services we provide!

hiya leelou...you didnt offend me at all i was just saying that not all of us that are new to extensions are as bad as the lady in the advert..i totally agree with you about the courses being so easy to take and if the courses that people take are anything like the first one i did then god help us! thats why i took another one and i have been practicing none stop for about 10 months not along time i agree but i am confident with my work now and have just started to charge people for doing it as when i was practicing i only charged for the hair etc..

i hope that 7 years down the line i can be where you are saying how long i have been doing it and im sure i will...im am a hair extension junkie now..im totally addicted..lol

oh yeah i know leelou aint a snob i saw her in town..lol

As the story goes there is two sides to every story and I dont think that we all know the full story of this particular and might never get to know it.

yes i agree there is to sides to every story although i cant imagine how that girl could have got stray hairs from above and below the bond mixed in with the bond??

surley thats down to the extensionist..? i just cant see a way that it could have been caused by something she did. x

Im Lucy new to the forum I have been doing extensions for about 12 years now and am fed up with having to sort out other peoples mess! there are too many out there willing to do a bodge job at a cheap price but they are never around to fix the problem afterwards! us brits are too polite though and never like to complain!!

I know a girl also trained by connect2hair they all have one thing in common they are taught to apply extensions bond on bond ie. all together in a block rather than in rows there seems to be no structure to the application just randomly shoving them in! As for enormous bonds like that i think thats just pure laziness and sloppy work and obvious over loading of sections, she is lucky to have any hair left!! hope she at least gets her money back. grrrr

Hi there Laura, yes that's the person, she seems to be a right nasty woman.  A girl who comes on the board also rang her up to buy some hair from her and she was asking about the different grades that her hair came in and she got dead nasty about it.  That's customer service for you lol.  Glad you like your hair.  I'm doing Sarah's hair today who were on about x

Oh my God, that's dreadful. It looks so sore the poor thing. I do say fair play to her for informing others though.
I too did a day's training with zero hair experience. It's one thing to learn the art but another thing to master it so being Miss Meticulous, I practiced and practiced until my arms almost fell off. Virtually everyone I knew had hair extensions at some point and I spent the best part of four months gaining experience before I even considered going loose on the public. I read and researched on this forum and the internet, tried and tested hair and products and only then, when I felt remotely confident, did I even think about advertising.

I possibly over-compensated but due to my lack of knowledge I wasn't about to destroy anyones hair!

As a result I felt far more confident when I started and equally confident that I wasn't going to inflict any damage.

The problem is that these people learnt the art and get going straight away thinking that it's easy. I think it's appalling and I hope they get stung. It's so unfair when the rest of us are running a fair and honest business to have people like that create a bad reputation and put people off extensions for life.

I've recently had 2 clients who are the result of bad extensionists. They have come to me with poor extensions and their extensionists (?) have failed to answer their calls or return their emails. One of them was a post-chemo patient having extensions for the first time. She paid just under £200 for 'three month extensions' and couldn't understand why they fell out in the first wash. Probably because they were glued with liquid gold by the weft??

Suffice to say the extensionist never answered her calls.

I find it absolutely disgusting.

Sorry if that was a rant but I feel really stongly about this as I know we all do.

Let's hope the trainer steps in and does something. Though I pose the question, how do you teach someone to install extensions that badly?

Angry
