Oh, I need some help with my daughter's hair. She came home from a party and found an huge wad of gum in her hair. when she was in the shower. She was afraid to tell me...thought I'd laugh (that would be my husband, NOT me), so she cut it off. She wacked off a huge section on the side of her head before she realized that she made it worse, then came to tell me! It is about 2-3 " short on one side...OMG! She normally wears her hair about 4" past her shoulders and now I have to take her somewhere to fix it. What kind of hairstyle should I do? She's 8 1/2. Do I put hair extensions in? Are there any good, really short, hairstyles for young girls? She has been crying all afternoon!!!Cry

Help!

Nancy

oooh you and your poor little girl!   is it a huge section? there are cute hairstyles for little girls, but maybe if its not such a big section you could just pull the hair in that area back with a cute hair clip until it all grows long enough to blend.....me personally, i love long hair and i would do anything possible to keep from cutting all the rest short

my opinion, hair extensions on  a young girl are a lot to expect her to be able to take care of, it is easy to make your hair worse with them if not carefully taken care of (and for young girls ..how embarrassing if their school mates find out!)

I know this is a little old, but if this happens to anyone else, just drench the hair with cooking oil and you'll be able to come out the gum. It will take some work, but it will work.

or peanut butter... when I was about 8 my dad spent and hour and half working gum out of my waist length hair with peanut butter... it works!...

or if it's not TOO entrenched... ice will make itnot sticky anymore....
