Well, I sewed her hair in a circle. Then I cut out a square piece for her top area. I sewed that down to the braids, I then sewed the hair in a circle. When you go in a circle with textured hair it gives more volume and coverage. If it were straight human hair, I'd horsehoe the tracks. I hope I'm not confusing you. She is coming back in for me to do another install, she loved it.

It looks awesome! So how did you close the top? Very nice! I wish more of my customers with thinning hair would go for a full weave. I sometimes think that caucasian ladies have a hard time understanding the concept.

I sometimes think that caucasian ladies have a hard time understanding the concept. | I agree.. I can't tell you how OFTEN I have had to explain this method to folks I've discussed weaves with.. (including the inevitable clueless ones who think I mean that I put a needle through my scalp to attach the hair ..)
I also think that the other problem with this method on caucasian heads is that there are many stylists doing this method who automatically braid caucasian client's hair FAR too tight. I know they do this because they think they need to do this to caucasian hair because of the assumtion that ALL caucasian hair is silky with no texture. So some misinformed stylists braid tighter than they should so that the client can wear the style for more than a month or two.. The truth is that there are are other techniques to add texture to the braids so the style will last longer without pulling the crap out of the client's hair.. AND not everyone (regardless of hair type) can wear this method for more than a month becasue of their hair growth.. Some wearers can only get 4 weeks wear.. and that's okay..

Metalgirl, when you sew the hair in applying the tracks either in a circle or one at a time they fall on top of one another. My only problem was she was more than 50% grey, so coloring was out of the question, you know how grey hair and color does. She wore it about 5 weeks. The braids were not tight and no mildew hair. She said she washed it twice a week. Oh yeah I used a net for the top, it helps with gaps.

Hey Shirilyn,
It's not even a matter of just putting hair extensions in, I bet you made that women feel so much better about herself. You did a fantastic job and I thing all of us who do hair extensions for a business get the most satisfaction from making people feel sooooooooooo much better about themselves. Kudo's to you girl!

Essence I used some yaki braid hair. I also sew thread onto her hair to prevent slippage. She shampoo's once or twice a week. Thanks for your comment.

To reiterate everything already said, AMAZING job. I bet she couldn;t believe her eyes when she looked in the mirror.
Is there anywhere that demonstrates how these weaves work and how you apply them?
I'm trying to find out and looking everywhere. I've looked at the BHM forum and gathered a few ideas but am still awaiting that wonderful demo that's going to make me go, Hurrah!
Is it best to add fake hair into the braid? It seems that some do and some don't.
Thanks.

Hi Sammy JB, thank you for your comment, I can try and help you as best I can. I like to use hair for reinforcement purposes. A lot of people either sweat or shampoo their hair often, so adding hair and sewing the braid gives extra longevity of the style. Second, can you sew a pair of pants or a hem? I can try and help out by sending a video clip to you by email. Just PM me and I'll get on it.
Thanks, Shiry
