So, I took down my third install of Wagman with Protac/LG, and did some experimenting because I was going to be replacing the hair in the lower wefts. What I found is that, although I like acetone for the ease with which it removes the wefts (and think it is the greatest for cleaning them,) citrus remover is by far the easiest and safest for my hair, and the least sticky way to get the wefts out of my hair when they're in with Protac and LG. What I was left with on my hair when I removed with acetone was a horrible, sticky mess, but with the citrus remover, every little bit of gunk combed right out and two shampoos later my hair was perfectly clean!
I found that once the wefts were removed, the citrus remover didn't do a good job at all of getting the wefts clean. It just dissolved the tapes into messy goo on the hair. My new routine for takedown: working on one side at a time, I wet down the wefts with citrus remover. As they come out I immediately dunk the top of the weft into a bowl of acetone and peel off the tape. Then I use my nail to scrape off as much of the remaining goo as I can with the top of the weft in the acetone, then throw the weft into a sink full of clarifying shampoo and filtered water. When I'm done, I comb through my hair to get out the last of the goo, and put the wefts into a second sink of shampoo and water. I rinse them and put a good conditioner on (I'm loving Schwarzkopf Bonacure Total Repair Treatment these days) and hop into the shower. I wash my hair, condition, and while the condtioner is sitting on my hair I rinse off the wefts in the shower, pulling off any more balls of goo that may remain. Afterwards, I comb the hair on the wefts with a fine-toothed nit comb and hang them to dry. My hair comes out perfectly clean and healthy and the wefts free of stickiness except for the little bit at the top where the tapes go. I won't be dreading the takedown step nearly as much now that I've got a method that works easily for me. ------------- Here's to the end of my BAD HAIR LIFE! |

im glad to read your post kristie, i was just thinking about my upcoming time for removal and pretty much dreading it......but im going to plan it on a day i can take plenty of time, im going to plan to use the citrus remover this time too, but have some acetone on hand just in case

| I've had a really easy time with takedown of just the pro-tac, I put in the citrus remover on top and bottom of the weft, and gently rub it around a bit until it loosens from my hair...then I put my hairs off (gently), and take them right out...if you get the right combination (this might not work with the LG I dont use that, then you can actually pull the entire piece of pretac tape directly off the weft with almost no goo remaining...I've gotten the hang of it after a few months now...my first takedown was a nightmare, and I lost a lot of hair, my last was a breeze, I lost maybe 5-10 hairs max. |

tbctbc, I wear mine until the Protac tape has really dissolved into a big pile of goo on the hair on the wefts. This last time it was 8 weeks before I took them down and reinstalled them. With the citrus remover I can get most of the tape off, but there is definitely goo mushed in and remaining in the hair. More citrus remover on this just gunks the goo into the hair worse, but the acetone gets it right out of the hair and mostly off the wefts too. Malibu, for me it is simple to get the glue out of my hair but a pain to get it off the wefts. BTW, the pics of your first install look great!
