Well, I started growing my hair out since december, I finally got it to a good length where I could achieve this look (the guy on the left):

It finally finally got past that actually. So I went to get my hair cut like his and brought the picture to show my regular amazing hair stylist. My grandmother took me, she goty me a gift certificate to the salon I usually go to. He was done cutting my hair and it already looked amazing, he just needed to flat iron/style it. My grandmother comes over and she didn't like it, I think partially she was just upset because her ex husband died the previous day, but she stil;l wanted to take me, and so she told him to cut my bangs and the back. He tried to keep it like a miniature version of it, and keep it so it would grow out in the way of the picture, but it just looks really bad on me, and I feel really uncomfortable with short hair =/ This is what I looked like before I got it cut:

Now here is what I look like now:

I guess what I am trying to get at is, I really cannot stand it, I don't like my hair this short I just feel naked. How much will extensions cost to get to the length like in the first picture I posted? Should I even get them? I'd really like to grow out my own hair this long but if I really feel this uncomfortable I might just get extensions, because I';ve been growing my hair out for almost forever. How long will it even take to grow back? My mom feels bad for me, so I don't think she'll mind me getting extensions, I'll be paying anyways. What do you all think? Thanks a lot, I hope you don't mind all of the pictures =/

i think you could do a search on this forum for past posts on the do it yourself information.....from just looking at your ;inspiration' pic and your 'now' pic i think you could achieve what you want with microrings and individual strand hair.with that you could add in different colors too and you wouldnt need that much if you leave it as a piecy and chunky look

but, if you dont want to go the DIY route and get someone else to do them, do some reasearch on the person you choose to do them

I think it would be pretty easy to duplicate that style with some wefts and pro-tac tape too.

Moffpoff would be a good one to chime in on this one....ohhh moff where are you sweetie??

Well I was going to probably get it done professionally, I don't trust myself with my hair. Especially when its this short, I can't even barely flat iron it anymore =/ And the inspiration pic, his hair isn't very piecy besides the top, but it just appears piecy because the different color shades makes it appear like it goes in and out, right click the image and click view image to get a better view. I guess I just miss my real hair =/

ah ok i see.....well, as sherrie said Protac/wefts would be easy to recreate......im very much a DIY'er and just hate to see people spend money when i know they can do it themselvesWink, but i do understand that DIY isnt for everyone......so, im sure a professional would be able to do them on your hair with amazing results (but it would be so easy for you to do!)

That is true. I'll have to get good tutorials though and things of that nature, because I have one arm (broken right arm =/) so I'd need to print it out for say my girlfriend to do it for me. Does anyone have a good tuitorial and links to the hair/stuff I should use?

seriously the pro-tac method is so easy, my 16 year old can do it! Im sure your girlfriend could help you with this. If you can make a part, and stick on a piece of tape you can accomplish the pro-tac method!

Heres a pro-tac demo
