So far, I've had the kinky twist with extentions in for 7 weeks.  I may keep them one more week to make 8.  Can someone tell me the best way to take them out without damaging my hair and what's your routine right afterwards? Thanks for any advice.

Hey, Im sorry I can't answer your question... I've never had the kinky twists before, but I LOVE them.  (tryin' to learn to do them myself)  I bet yours look great.

If your head still looks decent though, one more week shouldn't hurt. Smile

You can spray your hair with something to make it softer so that the braids will release easier. Also, afterwards, you should DC over night after your wash.

Thank you.  I hadn't thought of deep conditioning overnight.  I will do that.

I'm glad you asked, because I was going to ask the same question, eventually.  I got some braids about 3 weeks ago.  I took pics, but I've been too busy (lazy) to update my fotki album.

I went on ahead and took the twists out over the weekend.  They slipped off very easily.  I just wet and put creamy conditioner on them, cut, start untwisting and it slipped off easily. I had gained about 1 1/4 in. of new growth duing the 7 weeks of wearing them.  The only thing I've noticed is my hair is very, very dry from the twists, although I moisturized and oiled twice a day while in them. I'm a short natural and after I removed them I did a protein treatment followed by a moisturizing deep con.  I've been con washing everyday afterwards and I plan to do another deep con tomorrow. Twists ext. are very drying.
