so, everyone.. let me start off by saying my hair is naturally really really curly and dry and impossible to do anything with, ever. so in jan. of this year i got it relaxed, when it was relatively short (1-2 inches in some places, 3-5 in others). but after a month or two it started to feel like my hair was losing the whole soft and straight and manageable thing, so after dealing with that for a while, i got my hair relaxed again by a friend, who IS a stylist but a cheaper one than when i originally had the process done ($125 the first time, $30 the second time...) she used a child strength relaxer on all my hair, including what was already relaxed once, but it didn't really do much and after a week or two it was like she never did anything to it at all. so, about a week ago, i had my roots relaxed (including what was only relaxed once by the cheap, child-strength stuff, but NOT what was already done twice before), this time at the expensive place i had originally had it done at.
it's probably because my hair was already messed up by that cheap crap, but my hair is STILL really bad. it has weird small, tight waves and it's extremely EXTREMELY dry - if i lift up ANY clump of hair anywhere on my head, it STAYS that way and doesn't move. and that's after i use a ton of different products on it and wear a skull cap for like 20 minutes in the morning after i get out of the shower and put everything in it.
if i don't use a lot of product (garnier fructis smoothing milk and john frieda frizz-ease for relaxed hair, then garnier fructis "surf hair" wax) then just trust me. it's basically a somewhat-straight (but still wavy in most places) afro with crazy pieces of frizzed-out hair sticking up everywhere. the thing is, in the morning when my hair is even just a little bit damp, my hair is awsome and straight and manageable, but after an hour when it's completely dried it looks like crap.
PLEASE tell me there's something i can do. money really isn't an object. i already got this stuff that the stylist made me buy for $47 (Rene Furterer Karite Revitalizer), and i have to put a warm towel over my head for 10 minutes when i put it in, and it feels like it makes my hair a little softer and everything but it definitely doesn't fix it.
i really like my long hair though. if worst comes to worst and you guys think there's absolutely nothing i can do, i guess i'd be willing to straighten it. i would need you to recommend what kind of straightener to use though, because i tried using my mom's Chi once without a temp. setting and it came out like crap. but my friend also used HER Chi on me before with the highest temp setting and my hair was really good after actually..
well. yeah like i said, PLEASE. there's gotta be SOMETHING i can do..
here is a picture of me and my hair (from my myspace)
but keep in mind, that's in dark lighting and AFTER i've done all the crazy procedures i have to do. that pic was also taken the day after i got it relaxed last, so it looks better there than it does now. way better.
and, this is pretty laughable and unrealistic, but the hair i think would be really really gnarly to have is something like this off the teddy geiger cd:

i know i prob sound like one of those vain prissy guys but trust me i'm not, i just wanna be able to run around and change clothes without my hair turning into a huge ball of puffy crappiness.
thanks everyone and sorry for the term-paper-like length :)
