I've colored my hair a lot (really, a lot) my latest was black that I decolored and then added copper.

Now here's what I've been pondering... To go to a real hairdresser and ask them to make my hair lighter aswell as cutting a few inches off to remove the most damaged hair. (I knopw I must stop coloring since I want long hair someday.....)

I have no idea how it will turn out since I have so many colors under but I never have the strength to waitfor my regular color to grow back.

Then when my own color starts showing up the the roots to go back to the salon (even thoughit will probably look different from the rest since it's colred and the roots are not.)

I amd going back and forth.... Usually when I think like this I tend to sooner or later do it but I wanted to ask for opinions.

Thanks.

PLEASE DONT DO IT !!!

Your hair wont take to be lightened up , It's poor and weak right now and as you say damaged . I would just advice you to go get a haircut and wait till you grow out the damage if you want hair on your head
Believe me I know what I'm talking about I'm in the same boat and i did the same mistakes of coloring my hair every 2 weeks or so and go from dark to light and to dark then to light again...........I ended up with very damaged hair and a bob and till now i m growing out the damage I'm one month away from 100% damage free hair , and it took me a year .
a year i didnt gain any lengh in my hair cuz i had to trim the ends regulary and even if i leted it to grow the split ends would run to the top of the hair.

So just avoid any further damage and just wait it out till your hair restore it's health
