Help!!! I've gone from over-highlighted blonde to mousey brown!. After having my natural light brown hair highlighted for over 30 years (I'm 50) I decided it was just getting too blonde, so with pictures in hand I went to my salon. My hair-stylist suggested, in order to acheive the look in the pictures, she would have to do a color first...then do highlights. I was a little apprehensive because for 30 years I had only been highlighting over my natural hair and would only have to have it done 3 times a year...pretty low maintenance! Well she convinced me that I really needed to color now because my natural color was getting grayer...ok so she convinced me....the result (6 weeks ago)... still too blonde. Also ,my roots were very noticeable after 6 weeks...something I'm not used to. So back I went to the salon...showing the same pictures and describing what I wanted to my stylist...she suggested doing mostly low-lights in a darker color and some blonde highlights...the result: a dull mousey brown ! Please somebody help!!! How do I get the color(s) I am looking for...light brown with golden highlights..kinda like Jennifer Anniston? Can this be acheived without my turning into a high maintenence salon visitor?

since your hair always been so blonde i think your stylist should
foiled ur hair 1st and then put a filler in between the foils...and
wipe it off and put ur desire color u wanted...did she even put a
filler on when she did ur hair? the filler color helps you hold in the
darker color u wanted...because u bleach out all the underlying pigment
of ur hair color that u need to add it back in and then it would hold
the color...or else it would turn out to be the DULL MOUSEY BROWN
COLOR...hehe well good luck to you! hope ur hair would turn out the way

Thanks for your help! I will definetly ask my stylist about the filler...not sure if she did this or not...in the mean time I'll be spending some time in the sun...maybe that will help to lighten it until my next appt.

| I think it will lighten up over time. I had almost the same exact thing happen to me, and after repeated washings my hair lightened up considerably. It ended up looking quite nice, actually! |
