Yesterday, i decided i was sick of my fried (dyed FAR to many times) hair, so i decided to just chop it all off. Myself. LOL such a good idea, huh? Im not bad at cutting hair, but i think i went a bit overboard trying to get rid of ALL the overprocessed hair...and i now have boy-short hair (like natalie portman's i think).

*sigh* at least its easy to style!
my question, though, is how fast does hair grow on average per month, and would taking silica help grow faster, or just make it healthier?
Thanks!

What is wrong with having ultra-short hair like Natalie Portman? Natalie sure doesn't look like a boy, that's for sure!
Natalie is gorgeous, very feminine and beautiful, in her delightful short hairstyle that she is wearing these days. She looked beautiful with a shaved head also, she has the lovely, feminine features to wear the bald look.

Ultra-short hair on women isn't usually masculine looking because the woman has feminine features.
In fact many people believe that ultra-short hair on women make women look more feminine, because you can see their lovely feminine features better with ultra-short hair.

How long is your short hairstyle?

Hair grows about a half inch each month; don't know about the silica thing.

Natalie Portman is awfully cute!  Definitely there are worse people you could've ended up looking like.

I don't think silica will make your hair grow any faster.  Ii have tried every product known to man and none of them made a difference.  I have opted just to have short hair instead.  Maybe you'll end up liking yours better once you get used to it.  It does take a bit of time to get adjusted.

I think the essential "problem" here is that the OP, who's looking for help in growing her hair longer, posted her message in the short hair forum.  On the other hand, she now has short hair, so that makes it relevant to this forum.  The question in my mind is, did she purposely post in the short hair forum because she wants to be assured that she still looks okay/good with short hair?  Maybe so, and if that's the case, then she did the "right" thing by posting here.  It's not always easy to tell from which perspective threads are created.

Oh, and in answer to the OP (hi keyfairy!), my experience is that silica does not speed up hair growth, but it does help reduce the number of strands that fall out.

I wouldn't trust gimmicks that promise fast hair growth. They are not scientific.

Hi Dave,

Brilliant comment, as usual.   I'm a little confused myself.  Keyfairy, are you really looking to regrow your hair, or are you looking for more confidence in wearing your hair short?

Me too ksh.  I get my hair to that perfect spot where it just falls into place and looks great and it is over in a few days.  I run to the salon quite a lot.  But that isn't all bad.  I love going there!

Pills to make hair grow, pills to stop it from growing. . . bleh, I'd settle for just a pill to keep what I do have from falling out!
