I just recently dyed my hair blonde and my mother was extremely reticient at buying hair dye. She wanted me to go to a salon for it, which I would if I was getting high/lowlights but not this. So anyways, it ended up that I had to tone it and get new developer for the toner, but she outright refused to get any, and I even wanted to to pay for it. That means I had to use 30-volume developer when the instructions said 20-volume.

Luckily everything turned out good (I did a strand test before, too). I'm not into wacky colors--come on, i'm having enough grief from my mom about red, black, brown etc--or anything, hell I wanted to dye my hair black once and my mom was all worried. So, what can you say to someone about this?

My mom hates my hair sometimes, but going with crazy colours.  It seems like it's something chinese parents really hate.  They think blonde is for punks, as well as the other colours.  But my parent's are rather lenient, so I can't say I have any advice except show them that you're the same person.  I would think a parent's concern would be about your school performance, and your behaviour.  They take it as a sign of rebellion perhaps.

Maybe parents think of a child dyeing his or her hair as a sign they don't like the hair they inherited from their parents?  Like what they gave you genetically isn't good enough?  Just a weird, random thought.
